Washington's top 4 D is sick now. Carlsson, Orlov, Niskanen and Shatty. Maybe this will finally be the year they go deep.

It does seem odd given his contract status. Sure the Leafs had 2 2nd rounders in the upcoming draft but why not keep them to parlay into an actual asset for more than 2 Months?

I'm fine with it, really like him and Martin on a line with Leivo or Sosh as the other winger. If he resigns here I'll like the deal more.
