Is Reimer in Toronto? Pretty sure I just saw him at McDonald's at 5:30 AM lol

That lack of sleep getting to ya? Lol

Maybe but I'm pretty sure it was him considering he had a big smile on (at 5:30 AM) wearing a big leafs hoodie and it looked like him and the woman with him looked like his wife

Or else that's just a super weirdly similar looking couple and we've found the second human being on the planet who can smile at 5:30 AM besides Reimer

So, if Las Vegas gets their team (which seems likely at this point), then they will likely be called the Las Vegas Black Knights. If so, I'm going to be thinking Monty Python every time the Leafs play them.

Significantly better than thinking about, well, the Leafs.

I can't wait until Marner and Nylander are ready.

Leafs Hire Lou Lamoriello as NEW GM

Well damn! They hired the guy they should have hired instead of Burke in the first place.

he's 72 lol

thoughts on this?

Probably a short-term hire. I'm guessing Shanahan is really keen on having Dubas as his GM long-term and wants someone with experience to look over him, or something like that. Lou will probably stay on as an advisor of some sort after he retires.

Sure but we gotta get through those years lol. Is Lou an old boys club guy or is he a legit good, smart GM? Is he senile yet like Fletcher the second go around?

I'm not a fan of him post-2004 lockout, but I wonder whether the Leafs are treating the GM role the same way as other teams. Shanahan seems to be indicating that it's more Dubas/Hunter/Lou/Pridham sharing duties than one person running it all.

Yah I'm thinking Lou is probably just the figurehead while each voice shares their opinion in the room (realistically shaking out like 50% Dubas 25% Hunter 12.5% Lou 12.5% Pridham with final shay to Shanny or something). I kinda like it.

It's an odd structure, but it's definitely a reasonable structure.

In the end, the real GM is likely Shanahan.

Lou ran the most tight, close to the vest ship in NJ. Nothing ever gets to the media. Lou is gonna cut the balls off the media. Can't wait to see Steve Simmons squirm.

As for Lou himself, keep in mind Parise bolting because ownership was broke and Kovalchuk retiring out of literally nowhere pretty much devastated the Devils. Hard to recover from that. He's built a solid D out of little too (save Larsson).

Does anyone think this is a bad move? Lou is one of the most respected executives in hockey. Bringing in his experience with guys like Hunter and Dubas beside him sounds like a recipe for success (cautiously optimistic).

For once, I like the direction we're going in. Hire two of the most respected people in their respective fields (Babcock for coaching, Lou for GMing, and in Lou's case, a f***ing legend) and then surround them with young guys to learn for them and grow under their tutelage (Keefe/Smith, Hunter/Dubas), all sharing the same vision most importantly. We actually have a vision here. A damn good vision. I just really hope the execution is there, because that's what ends up counting in the end.

This is legitimately the first time I've felt good as a Leaf fan in about 11 years, and that was just being a 9 year old clueless optimist in 2004 lol.

He also left his previous team with the worst long term future in the NHL. I think he's a terrible GM but if he's just the "GM" to talk to the media etc.. and Dubas is running the ship the Leafs will be fine.

I like this move for no other reason than Lou looks like a total badass who eats nails and crushes souls.

He's a pretty ruthless person. Not just in hockey but everywhere. Heard a couple bad stories about him.
