Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Debating whether to watch the leafs or raptors game tonight.. Leafs should be beat buffalo but not expecting much after beating the bruins last night.
Laika Community Moderator Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Wow, talk about selling low on Dubnyk. His SV% the last three seasons were pretty f***ing solid for playing for one of the worst teams in the league. .916, .914, .920. That's actually a slightly above average SV%, while playing for the f***ing Oilers. And they give him away for essentially nothing 32 games into one bad season, while they're going absolutely nowhere. Idiots.
Laika Community Moderator Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 What a terrible organization. Dubnyk will probably shock the hockey world by continuing to be a good goalie in Nashville. How's this for a nice litmus test of SV% vs. team influence. Scrivens has like a .980 mark in LA, or something stupid like that. I bet he's under .910 in Edmonton.
Nox Verified Member Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Lmao @ Hockey. Take on ~$7.5 of Matt Hendricks and give up a 3rd round pick for a lateral move from Dubnyk to Ben Scrivens (who only has 1 year of control).
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Bolland was back on the ice today, it will be great to have him back in a few weeks!!
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Nice deal for Preds. Been sitting Dubnyk all year, hopefully a change of scenery is good for the guy.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 go leafs go!!! Cap filler go leafs go!
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 franson with a fugly turnover... 2-1 buffalo ugh
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 4 on 3 PP for the Leafs, better capitalize! Too much selfish play so far
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 I can't stand the shootout... the only shootout I've ever really found exciting was that american/canadian junior game with price... that was great. LOL MILLER... LEAFS WIN! That being said we've given 6 points to the buffalo this season, terrible lol
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Canucks are getting hammered, and just got issued against them a 7 minute 5 on 3
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Canucks are getting hammered, and just got issued against them a 7 minute 5 on 3 Yikes 9-1! lol
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Did anyone watch the canucks game? How did they manage to get 34 minutes of penalties at one time between 3 guys without the ducks getting any?
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Did anyone watch the canucks game? How did they manage to get 34 minutes of penalties at one time between 3 guys without the ducks getting any? I think it was actually 44 minutes lol. I came in right after that (was blacked out until then), but looked like Hansen and Sestito just started wailing on two of the ducks, both of which never really even got a chance to drop their gloves. I think Kassian's misconduct came before the puck drop following that, and the refs had good and had enough by that point. I don't think I've ever seen a 7 minute 5 on 3 before though (actually was a little longer I think since the Canucks took 2 penalties during it as well)
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Old Paul Maurice has these boys on the straight and narrow now lol. Never saw last nights game but its good to see the boys put 2 together.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Clarkson placed on the IR with an elbow injury... I bet he can't wait for this season to be over. Yikes
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Clarkson placed on the IR with an elbow injury... I bet he can't wait for this season to be over. Yikes Maybe he can take this time to prepare some motivational locker room speeches for his teammates. I mean they paid a premium for his "intangibles" didn't they? lol.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Leafs/Canadiens a pretty entertaining game so far. leafs have some jump.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 What a beautiful play by kadri and finish by franson

Frag Verified Member Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Shocked at how bad MacDonald is compared to everyone else. I'm not. The folks over at Lighthouse Hockey looked into MacDonald's splits and found him to truly be an anchor for the team. His WOWYs are pretty bad, also. In addition, I'd be cautious using BtN's QoT measure since it includes the player of interest in the measure.
Frag Verified Member Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 I've been working on a way to adjust for strength of team in junior leagues. While most teams tend to land in the middle, there are a few who are in the extreme. So, I calculate the team's avg PPG and subtract the player's PPG from the team avg to give me PPG REL. I just did the OHL for this season. Top 10 in PPG (30 GP minimum): 1. Connor Brown 2. Dane Fox 3. Scott Laughton 4. Connor McDavid 5. Max Domi 6. Sam Bennett 7. Nikolay Goldobin 8. Brock McGinn 9. Andre Burakovsky 10. Anthony DeAngelo (D) Top 10 in PPG REL: 1. Connor Brown 2. Scott Laughton 3. Dane Fox 4. Nikolay Goldobin 5. Anthony DeAngelo (D) 6. Max Domi 7. Connor McDavid 8. Sam Bennett 9. Michael Dal Colle 10. Carter Verhaeghe HOLY CRAP is DeAngelo having a season. Same with Brown, even for an overager. The R^2 value between PPG and PPG REL was 0.95, which makes sense since it's mostly the extreme ends of teams that are affected by this. Small, but possibly necessary adjustment to looking at offensive production in the junior level.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Not sure if anyone is watchng the intermissions but they are broadcasting from Lloydminster, right by my hometown in Sask. they talked about a series where Russia came and played the Canadian National team that Wade Redden had been on. Back then, the national team didn't have Nhl players, but the national team was actually a springboard to the nhl for players. Paul Kariya was also on that same team, and oddly enough Petr Nedved, who hadn't yet signed with an nhl team that year was also playing with them. One of my younger brothers won a contest and got to skate with them in their pre-game. Petr Nedved was the first player I ever got an autograph from, he and Kariya were really nice guys.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted January 19, 2014 Author Posted January 19, 2014 HOLY CRAP is DeAngelo having a season. Same with Brown, even for an overager. I really like DeAngelo. If the Leafs make the playoffs and end up finishing in the late teens I'd definitely like him to be taken. And Brown is really nice to see doing so well.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Lmao! 1 second into the game and there's 5 simultaneous fights in the Canucks / Flames game.
