GD Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2013 Author Posted October 28, 2013 SN 590 The FAN @FAN590 8s The New York #Islanders have traded Matt Moulson, their 2014 1st-round pick and a 2015 2nd-round pick to Buffalo for Thomas Vanek. Loving that for Buffalo.
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 No extension for Vanek in place. What are the NYI thinking? That's a solid return for one year of Vanek.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2013 Author Posted October 28, 2013 This is bad news for the value of Moulson on my fantasy team. His center will be Hodgson instead of JT now right? Could be worse. Hopefully he'll prove to be an upgrade on Vanek and get some assists for Cody cause I need some friggin help in WTP That's a solid return for one year of Vanek. At the least, solid.
Laika Community Moderator Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 And Moulson and JT had pretty good chemistry too. Terrible trade for New York. Vanek isn't special. He barely moves the needle for them, if at all.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 (edited) If Islanders are able to extend vanek the trade is okay. This trade is good for news me and all other okposo owners. Edited October 28, 2013 by Dylan
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Picked up Montoya for today to hopefully give me the edge in goal... He SHOULD be starting as Pavelec is awful in B2B games. Best case scenario.... 10+ saves, 2 GA or under, + win. (Against the avs unluckily ) Worst case scenario... Under 10 saves, 2+ GA, loss Nice try with that. Nearly worked for you.
Frag Verified Member Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Moulson and Vanek have similar numbers over the past 3 seasons (mind you, Moulson did it with JT, but he's still good). They are similar in age and similar contract lengths (though, Vanek is far more expensive). Plus, a 1st in 2014 (which could be a high first if the Islanders continue playing the way they are) and a 2nd in 2015. The f***?
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 (edited) Really have no idea what the Islanders are thinking on this one. However this should give Vanek a slight fantasy boost, so as an owner I'm not complaining. Edited October 28, 2013 by Dr. Dinger
GD Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2013 Author Posted October 28, 2013 Wasn't really expecting Liles over Brennan. Showcasing for a trade perhaps, or just to sit in the pressbox? The former.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2013 Author Posted October 28, 2013 "NBC Sports @NBCSports 6s Before trade to the @NYIslanders, @BuffaloSabres were reportedly poised to make @T_Vanek26 highest paid player in NHL " Um
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 Moulson scored on his first shot as a Sabre, lol. Make that #2 lol Vanek 0, Moulson 2
GD Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2013 Author Posted October 29, 2013 Kyp reported that the Leafs have started negotiations with Dion at 50 million over 7 years. That's a lot of f***ing money.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2013 Author Posted October 29, 2013 Wow..........Uhmm....... I think that if that's what it takes, you do it, but it puts us in an even more awkward position.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2013 Author Posted October 29, 2013 I wonder what the proposal was. I wonder too. Maybe a young defenseman?
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 Kyp reported that the Leafs have started negotiations with Dion at 50 million over 7 years. That's a lot of f***ing money. The thing is last year, people would have cringed at that number. I don't think Dion is worth that much, especially since he hasn't been all that consistent with the Leafs.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2013 Author Posted October 29, 2013 The thing is last year, people would have cringed at that number. That's cause most Leafs fans are dumn. I don't think Dion's value has changed significantly over the past year. It's just a starting point. If they can get it down to the 7/42 range, that's a lot more reasonable.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2013 Author Posted October 29, 2013 Bozak to the IR. Kadri will fill the hole on the top line. Probably a blessing in disguise.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2013 Author Posted October 29, 2013 And here's why it might be a blessing in disguise: http://www.pensionplanpuppets.com/2013/10/29/5025720/Tyler-Bozak-Maple-Leafs-Analysis Dem some ugly numbers.

GD Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2013 Author Posted October 29, 2013 I like after all that, 11% say Bozak should be on the first line. Like I said, Leaf fans are dumn. Yeah I just don't see him as a $7 million/per year player. I won't argue because I see your perspective on this, but I disagree.
Laika Community Moderator Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 Yeah I just don't see him as a $7 million/per year player. I just can't believe that people can watch the Leafs every game and come out thinking that Dion Phanuef is worth 6 or 7M a year. The Leafs are allowing 34.9 shots per game, 3rd worst in the league. Phanuef is getting 24:30 in ice time a game, 21st in the whole league and by far the most on the team. Those 2 things are probably related. He's a 2nd pairing offensive D-man on any decent team. He also skates like a robot / isn't young anymore.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2013 Author Posted October 29, 2013 Speak for yourself!!! Don't worry Spank you're not one of them ya knob jockey!
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 Oilers will come out strong tonight. I have a feeling oilers win this one 4-1.. hope i'm wrong How many games can the leafs win with ashton, bodie, smith, mclaren, and orr all starting.. I would like to see a team brawl though Also, LOL to phaneuf getting anything over 5.5-5.8 million.... back away now nonis

What is the Nonis Constant, you say? Well, it is basically the average salary he signed Tyler Bozak to minus Bozak's more realistic value (~800 K). Therefore, the Nonis Constant is: $4.2 M - $0.8 M = 3.4 As such, once you factor in the Nonis Constant, Phaneuf's potential contract looks far more reasonable: $7 M - 3.4 = $3.6 M See? In fact, taking this into consideration, $7 M is rather cheap.
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 It's quite amazing how many supporters this scrub has. He is pretty much the JP Arencibia of the Leafs.
Laika Community Moderator Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 He is pretty much the JP Arencibia of the Leafs. That's a pretty solid cross-sport comp. Not perfect, but there are some obvious parallels. He's like JPA, sans the disaster 2013, and with far less charisma. Terrible defender who gets overrated due to high points/production totals.
