Obviously I was joking in that post except the last part..seriously a conservative estimate for how many times njh got banned would be a dozen. Lots of homophobic comments I think. That usually did it

I was only on the old board for about a year. It seemed more lawless toward the end. But yeah now ai do remember some bannings. What I remember MORE is how many insane stupid threads were started and nothing seemed to happen when you reported them.

funny enough the quickest way to get banned on the old board was make a post about the Mods.

I created an entire thread calling the mods a coward and nothing happened to me.

Yeah. Stuff everyone should be ban-worthy wasn't like spamming and trolling. I had my share of 200+ spam threads where I fought with people:)

But there were certain things like racism/homophobia that would get you banned. Njh was one to enjoy pushing the envelope when he knew want buttons to press.

Actually the moderator signed in around 9am and 5pm, essentially everyday, had a Bosox avatar and spoke to me twice on that board of his/her 3 posts. They were a member and moderator since 2002, still there.

Where we're they when everyone was planning to leave? It was openly discussed on the forum and the thread never got deleted.

I totally remember that. LOL.

I went to the old board to try and find that thread for a laugh and jesus I almost vomited at the thread titles on there. I didn't dare open any of them. What a complete cesspool that place is now. The sad part to me is that we occasionally used to get intelligent fans of other teams that came over during a series and resulted in some good conversations. Now when they check in there they will think all Jays fans (and Canadians) are complete f***ing morons.

Maybe that wasn't something they thought should be policed

And if veterans get treated differently, where do you draw the line? Do you draw the line at the guy who has been here six months? What if he has 10 posts?

What if he has 1000 posts, but there are all garbage posts? Do we evaluate his posts to see if he should be banned or not? That doesn't make sense to me.

To be fair, if someone has 1000 posts and the majority of them are garbage, they shouldn't be around long enough to make a thousand posts in the first place. Being funny or light-hearted is one thing, contributing absolutely nothing during your entire time in a community is another. I say this because there are posters like that.

NJH's ban was a one day ban, I lifted his ban. Since we don't have give temp bans, we don't really have a set number of days, so I think one was enough.

Gnarls felt a temp ban was warranted, and I will stand by his decision. The moderators discuss issues, and problems with members in the mods forum, and believe me, the last thing we want to do is ban people.

Doesn't vBulletin allow the option for moderators/administrators to hand out warnings/infractions? If you guys can set up such a feature, any time someone steps out of line, you can give them an infraction. They get a message telling them they've been warned, and it sends them a copy of the post that warranted it. After a certain amount of time (three months?) the infraction expires. If someone gets three active infractions, they get banned for a week (three strikes, you're out). Any offences after that result in longer bans (two weeks, one month, three months, permanent). A regulated system like this will help keeps mods unbiased, while also not severely punishing people who are quality posters and just needed to be kept in check now and then. It will also make quick work of guys like metallijay and MohYou, because they'd likely get infracted in quick succession for their constant disruptive behaviour. That, or they'd have no choice but to fix their acts; a win-win situation for the rest of the board.

This should also greatly reduce backseat moderation because it will allow most of us to ignore the trolls, knowing moderators are constantly taking action. In the current system, it's "ban or nothing" so moderators have to let a lot of things slide because they're not necessarily ban-worthy. Infractions give you the step between banning and letting someone slide completely.

We probably should've e-mailed MLB.COM and asked for a new moderator with all posters consent in a thread.

I did, never amounted to anything. That's when I gave up on that forum and made that thread.

That was one advantage of that place. If you had a mlb.com account you could go to any team's board easily and post there (usually after 24 hours from first attempt) without having to make a new account for each board you wanted to post on.

This is an excellent idea. The function exists and can be used but we have not done so as of yet. We will discuss and if we go with something, like this we post a sticky.

Well, you can still do that, just link this forum.

Ya, I think I'm going to check it out every so often during the season and try to direct anyone seemingly normal to this place. I refuse to let DJBluRay represent this fanbase to outsiders.

NJH should lose 100 thanks for every day banned. That would really teach him.

Along with 2000 posts added to his post total, to completely torch his Thanks ratios.

It really sucks. That's still the first board most people will find. He makes half the posts on there and any time you mention this place he rages about ju1ced/admin. It's annoying as f*** and that place is brutal now but he keeps defending it.

I knew of the official Blue Jays forum for years and never ever felt the urge or desire to post there. I tried every other forum but I never touched that one, despite having a MLB.com account for ages. The format/layout for that forum was horrendous, the amount of backwards idiotic opinions were far too abundant and it didn't seem very active at all. I seriously would have gone on to a Yankee or Red Sox forum for baseball discussion before joining that one.

I stopped in last week for the first time in months and it was him and fatash circle-jerking about how they like their ghost forum now that all the stupid posters have left. I can't imagine why anyone would want to post there.

For the circle jerks maybe? We don't do that here.

Was he the one who started JaysCountry or whatever that site was?

That was a different guy. He wasn't stupid or a troll.. He was just shameless and pitiful trying to get that hopeless website going. He was ao upset when this board was proposed. I think he tried offering $50 if people would post on his forum. Was very sad to witness

I remember him and Juiced getting pretty feisty lol

You know, it's really funny (and telling) that you ban NJH at the drop of a hat, but guys who have already been permabanned on their first account are free to post and be idiots all they want. When you guys are banning a guy who is on your payroll(figuratively) and not high85, you need to reassess your priorities.

When you guys give in to subtle trolling from guys like high85, you need to reassess your priorities.

No, that guy was just bitter because Juiced's forum had more success in a day than he had in years. I can't remember what his name was there.

DJBluRay is easily the worst poster I've ever encountered. Everything he ever vomited onto a keyboard is just so so wrong but he was completely cocky about being the only one who was right. I would normally chalk this up to trolling but came to realize he was 100% serious and is just completely moronic with the worst personality you could imagine.

Yeah, wouldnt be surprised if this site put him in a straight jacket. That was his baby. He was updating it for years with like 1 poster on a good day. Was very sad.

I only vaguely remember him cause I joined the old board near the end (March-ish). Got any links to his worst posts?
