Murray Chass would honestly be a bottom 5 poster here.

Probably the biggest piece of s*** in the history of baseball media.

Wow. So many instances of not being able to distinguish between an actual Wiand a pitcher's win in one text. It's painful to read something so idiotic.

Who the hell DIDN'T put Kershaw #1 on his ballot? Was he trying to be different, a giant homer or just stupid? They really have to review who is allowed to vote.
Posted
Yeah... that's fake.

This is why it's not:

"if you use twitter, search for tweets containing his twitter handle, @55Gigantes. starting in october and going back many months, there are countless mentions of that being his handle, from baseball radio, websites and other journalists. it checks out."

His 1st tweet was the 2011 trade for Beltran, way before it was officially announced. Verducci just doesn't know how to use twitter.

So countless people carelessly searched "Tom Verducci" into twitter, got this account, and reported it as his. That fact doesn't mean anything. I bet this guy only has two tweets because he tweets fake rumours all the time and deletes them when proven false... the Beltran rumour must be his only hit so far.

There is maybe a 0.01% chance that this is happening.

True that people could have carelessly searched, but what are the chances of guessing Zach Wheeler for Beltran? There are millions of combinations and possibilities to be had.

It's something to keep an eye on. It's like the guy that broke the Rasmus and EJax trades, no one had ever really heard anything there.

From the biography section of his blog that he thinks is not a blog:

"Chass made some other significant contributions to baseball writing. For one, he created the coverage of contracts."

Does that mean that the reporters covering Rob Ford "invented" coverage of crack smoking mayors of large cities?

Some guy had Mike Trout SEVENTH on his ballot. Ballou or some s***. Cano, Pedroia, Ortiz, Victorino and Napoli all ahead of him. Lmfao.

God the BBWAA is such an embarrassment. I wonder how Law gets away with belittling their collective intellect year after year while being a member.

Oh man, gold right here

These voters who need the MVP to be on a playoff team are such hypocrites. Miggy is more valuable than Trout because the Tigers made the post season, but the same argument cant be made for Donaldson

But who's Donaldson?

Seriously though, the whole "led the team to the playoffs" narrative is just a lazy crock of s***. Had absolutely NOTHING to do with a historically good pitching staff. No sir. Trout should have inspired his pitchers to throw the ball better.

The thing that bothers me most about this yearly debate is that I'm reminded how stupid people are and how few actually think for themselves. It's like they take ownership of the award and defend "their guy." No objectivity whatsoever.

Jesus Christ. It's amazing that the average person here is more knowledgeable about baseball than the average BBWA member.

And sadly, their voting trends are used as evidence for the intellectually lazy (aka the average member of society)

Brian Kenny is really starting to annoy me. He means well, but arguing with fans on twitter and yelling at Harold Reynolds isn't all that productive. Instead of trying to destroy wins and other antiquated stats (one of his latest is to change how batting average is calculated... who cares), he should be popularizing new stats, like wRC+ and FIP (he does mention them sometimes, but not nearly as much as he mentions how bad wins are). And he's not as smart as he thinks he is.

Agree but he's smart and I like his show alot

"The idea of digging deeper into players is aimed at comparing players from different eras."

Is he serious?
