SumoNinja Verified Member Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 I don't know what the current record is, but I have a feeling Jose Fernandez just set the record for most strikeouts in a game by a 20 year old. 13 K, 0 BB through 7 IP. Bob Feller in 1938 is the best I can find. 18 k in a game, about a month before his 21st birthday.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 Henry Owens = Next Kershaw he'll have to keep some pretty high K-rates and low hit rates as he's going to walk a tonne.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 Report: Alex Rodriguez could be suspended for the rest of this year and all of next season. lol good. I might be a little biased because I have him in the DDL. But, this seems totally unfair. Other players are getting just the rest of this year. How and why is his suspension longer then everyone elses? Because he is a bigger name? Something just doesn't seem right here..
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 Bob Feller in 1938 is the best I can find. 18 k in a game, about a month before his 21st birthday. Kerry Wood K'd 20 as a 20 year old.

The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 Tigers aquire Jose Veras. Have the tigers found their closer? Astros recieve the Tiger's #5 prospect. Danry Vasquez. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2013/07/tigers-acquire-jose-veras.html
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 Or at least the other good reliever they needed. Benoit could still close. Looks like we're not getting Castellanos. Veras in, Papelbon out Benoit+Smyly+Veras is a good trio but.................................... << Janssen, Cecil, Delabar f*** AA, do something
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 He hasn't been completely terrible this year, ya his defense stinks terribly, but he has a 92 wRC+ compared to last year's 49. He can really only be a DH now, but then again DH's should have a 100+ wRC+ to be worth plugging into DH. sooooooooooooooooo he's useless?
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 His offense is on par with Seth Smith and Ryan Doumit out of the DH spot, and has been better than Konerko, Hafner, and Pena. Konerko, Hafner, and Pena has been worse than Bay.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 Konerko, Hafner, and Pena has been worse than Bay. That's exactly what he said lol.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 So they made him shave his head FOR NOTHING?
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 And they shouldn't, below average AAA bat the last two years with terrible defense. below .400SLG He's like DHing Pierre - speed

Or does the ball have to go a certain height into the air?
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/tino-martinez-resign-hitting-coach-miami-marlins-picking-up-balls-batting-cage-072913 Tino Martinez resigned because three specific Marlin players were being douchebags and wouldn't bother to pick up balls during BP. And while Martinez is right, the guy sure does swear a lot and seems confrontational. What a shame.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 In an opp to pimp one of my fantasy players (and I guy I've always liked), it should be noted that even though Jered Weaver gets a lot of hate for being a glorified "junkballer" nowadays, he's pitched at least 7IP and given up 1 or less runs in 6 of his last 7 starts. Including starts against BOS, STL, DET, and TEX.
DwightDM Verified Member Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 DBacks apparently willing to sell low on Kennedy and Kubel to clear salary. Kennedy's overrated and has been garbage this year mostly, but would anyone be interested on buying low on him? Controllable for a couple more years.
