G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 Pittsburgh - Oakland WS Awesome
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 This thread needs the picture of "LeeMarvin" in the white shirt and Pirates hat. If only someone had that picture...
TheHurl Site Manager Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 Not sure where the A's love is coming from. Chris Stewart just went into the crowd to catch a foul ball and then turned around and threw a strike to double off Nava tagging from first.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 Standing Mo from Fenway fans...never thought I'd see it.
digiblader Verified Member Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 Well, Baltimore's going to miss the playoffs as it looks like--the O's cannot afford to add anymore pieces because of cheapa** ownership that makes the Jays look good. http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/blog/jon-heyman/22829970/are-contending-orioles-tapped-out-after-landing-feldman Baltimore needs several things--but the payroll is maxed out. Remember, this is a small/mid market team. Makes you wonder if they'll even be able to afford Chris Davis long term.
BlueJayWay Verified Member Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 Not sure where the A's love is coming from. They have the best record in baseball since June of last year.
digiblader Verified Member Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Just because they have a young core, Baltimore is going to have significant issues keeping it together--they stand to lose Jim Johnson, Matt Wieters, several pitchers like Hammel, McLouth in the next year or two. Worse, they have money sunk into Jones and Markakis, and Machado eventually looking at a huge contract.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 In case you aren't watching it, the Rangers are inducting Pudge into their hall of fame. So great to see all those runners thrown out in the highlight reel.

TheHurl Site Manager Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 They have the best record in baseball since June of last year. Since when do fans on this board love good teams? I will like the A's more when they finally move to San Jose, I really don't like the City of Oakland. It's not a level of Philly hatred but still not one I like. Stems from the Raiders for me I think
TheHurl Site Manager Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Good thing the Jays have no bad contracts to worry about. When Peter Angelos reads Digi, he's going to pull the $20M he just gave to the U. of Baltimore.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Canadian Erik Bedard with a no-no through 6.1... (and 2 ER lol) and 10Ks... and 5BBs... What a strange line from him. Edit: according to Yahoo he gave up 2 unearned runs and 1 earned run (and is now out of the game, the earned run being let in by Cisnero who also allowed a run of his own.)
TheHurl Site Manager Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 I was just going through the A's roster... has anyone else realized how white it is? They have only 5 non-white players on their 25-man roster, and an all-white infield. Maybe this is the newest market inefficiency. Even back in the White Jays article, the A's were the 2nd whitest team in the majors. I think that was 2003. It led Griffin to write that the Jays and A's target college players who are very patient and both teams ignore the running game (which he drew almost as much heat as Geoff Baker for his assessment).

TheHurl Site Manager Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Cards call up 30 year old Brock Peterson for his big league debut, the guy even has the name of a True Cardinal. I expect he'll somehow get time in the lineup, hit .400 and slug over 1.00.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Justin Masterson is dealing today. No hits or walks through 6 innings. Not in line for the perfect game as he hit a batter.
BlueJayWay Verified Member Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 Arod has grade 1 quad strain (same thing Jeter has) so he won't be activated for a while
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 Good to see Henderson Alvarez healthy and producing. I've always liked the guy. Hopefully he stays healthy and becomes a big innings-eater for Miami. Seven innings. One walk. One strikeout. Hendo is definitely back, baby!!!
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 Miami has some weird starting pitchers now. Henderson throws mid 90s and doesn't miss ANY bats. Nathan Eovaldi sits 96 and he doesn't even K 6.0/9. Jacob Turner has always had good stuff and good velo, but he didn't even miss bats in AAA. Aside from Jose Fernandez, Kevin Slowey has the best strikeout rate in their rotation, and he sits 89.
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 Weird eh? All traded for in the last calendar year too. It's almost like they did it on purpose.... market inefficiency? Or simple ignorance (chasing gas instead of K's. i.e. chasing grades instead of production).
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 The Hendo we all know and love. Hendo = Bart Colon
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 They usually know what they're doing. Like when they irreparably alienated their entire fanbase?
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 Minor league game but when's the last time you saw 27 runs scored without a single HR? http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?gid=2013_07_21_pawaaa_dubaaa_1&t=g_box&sid=milb
8D Verified Member Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 Hendo = Bart Colon 2nd complete game shut out for Colon this season earlier today. lmao what a signing. rays and athletics #2013. jays are done.
