I wouldn't say that. He's in his mid 30's now and his stuff has just deteriorated.

 

His contract is only a one year deal with a low base (remember that he was a free agent and they only just brought him back in April) so it's no big loss. Kind of funny how much trouble the Tigers are having with assembling a decent bullpen though. It's like all they know how to do is hand out big multi-year contracts, so they can't seem to fill in the smaller pieces on their roster.

How many knew this??? Colin was selected by multiple schools for baseball (he was a high school pitcher with a 92 MPH fastball) but only ONE university offered him a football scholarship.

It's a known fact actually, he wanted to do both football and baseball, or more accurate he didn't want to pass on the chance of playing football.

Mariners Designate Eric Thames For Assignment

The Mariners have announced that outfielder Eric Thames has been designated for assignment. The move clears a 40-man roster spot for fellow outfielder Franklin Gutierrez, who will come off the 60-day disabled list. Gutierrez will replace Michael Morse on the active roster, with Morse landing on the 15-day DL.

 

Thames had yet to appear in the big leagues this season, and owns a career line of .250/.296/.431/ in 684 plate appearances with the Blue Jays and Mariners. The 26-year-old is currently slashing .295/.382/.479 with Triple-A Tacoma.
