    From the teams' perspectives, yes. From MLB as a business, there might be some ticket refunding implications that they do not want to get into.

    LOL @ Vlad 300M contract. Yea.. let's give him 3X what Yordan Alvarez got while being much less consistent .. and arguably inferior. Vlad: 2019: 272/339/433 2020: 262/329/462 2021: 301/401/601 2022: 274/336/478 Why is everyone ignoring every year that is not 2021?

    They can easily all play 80% of the games while sharing the DH spot. Jansen is playing much less than that.

    He or Kirk should DH most games they are not catching. Worrying about losing the DH spot is stupid when considering the risk/reward of using one of the best offensive players on the team.

    He is playing every other game. Tapia is playing as much if not more.

    As I said before, this team does not know what they have in Danny Jansen. They continue to treat him like f***ing Tapia when Jansen is one of the best players in the game over the past two years.

    I think Vlad has some serious character issues. Becoming less of a clown would be a good first step in the right direction.

    Tapia hitting ahead of Jansen is beyond stupid. This team does not know they have in Jansen.

    I am not saying he will not. But using the data we have, he is likely to be inconsistent offensively with limited value defensively. Players who get 200M+ contracts usually occupy important defensive positions. You can live with fluctuations between 125 wRC+ and 200 wRC+ if you provide good defensive value. There are no examples of any team signing an inconsistent young 1B to a mega deal. Even 1B players who show some consistency are not getting mega deals. Why should Vladdy get more than Yordan Alvarez?

    But he is regressing. He is fat and the 10th worse base runner among qualified players. He is also #1 in GIDP. For a 1B. He is ... average overall. There is a reason he has less than 3 WAR this year. 23 years old means nothing if the player is getting worse.

    If you're not happy with WAR evaluation for 1B, I am happy to use offensive stats only. Vlad is 7th this year among 1Bs with little separation between him and 13th place. He is the MLB leader in GIDP and 5th worst 1B in base running. Basically, Vlad has been an average 1B at best this year. Objectively speaking, it would be extremely stupid to give Vlad a mega contract based on recent and career numbers. Anything more than the Matt Olson's extension would be an overpay.

    The only scenario where extending Vladdy makes sense is if Rogers Center had real grass and earth worms were Nazis. He would be a very good Nazi hunter.
