  1. Even if he ends up marginally worst than Grichuk, it's still a win for the front office. Pinto, and 5 mil, is not insignificant value added. But yeah, it's great to see Tapia providing value and proving his haters (like myself) wrong.
  2. Do the US still have similar policy? All these guys crying like it's a Canada only thing. Fortunately, all Jays players are vaccinated.
  3. I want the Jays to win the WS just so haters can stop bitching about Montoyo, Atkins and the front office. Also an FU to the losers who made entertainment personal, and harassed his family.
  4. Was going to bitch about Tapia hitting 6th, but just looked up his splits for last 7 days. hmm.
  5. I don't understand why people are making definitive comparisons between Manoah and Berrios after only 5 starts? Alek has 142 IP under his belt. Jose 880 IP. If you want to compare just FIP, in 192 innings last year, Jose had a 3.47 FIP, which is a more similar number of innings to Alek's 142 IP, and his 3.66 overall FIP. Jose absolutely belongs with Alek. No one knows what trajectory Manoah's career will go. He definitely has a chance to surpass Jose by year's end and going forward, and that would be absolutely outstanding as a Jays fan. But anointing Alek as a league above Jose after only 31 innings to start the season is silly. Manoah isn't going to maintain a 1.47 era for the season, and Berrios isn't going to stay at 5.34 era. They each have about 25 starts remaining and I'm guessing their numbers will be similar by year's end.
  6. He averages 6 IP/start. I don't really consider that workhorse. I don't consider him an Ace either, but how many aces are there really? Jose's value is provided by his ability to limit walks, and average a SO/IP. His stuff is good. His durability is definitely an asset, but I think it disingenuous to insinuate the bulk of his value is attributed to innings pitched.
  7. He's had 1 200 IP season. His innings pitched is in line with others on that list. Maybe Jose is just good?
  8. Thanks for the on field perspective. I'm really hoping to get down to TO and catch some games this season.
  9. Thank you Jeebus! Spring is not the same without baseball. Will there be a full regular season of 162 games? Or have we lost some.
  10. I would like to think this team is much more attractive to free agents then in past years. Jays are developing the reputation of a potential perennial contender, with a young core, and proven willingness to spend in FA and add at the trade deadline. I genuinely feel FAs will see Toronto as an attractive destination that can meet their financial requirements, in addition to giving them an opportunity to be part of a contending team for years to come.
  11. They are right now. But I think that was what Ray was getting at, that some of them took a jump in stuff around 27/28 years old. Bauer as example took a jump around that age. Prior to that, Berrios numbers have been better in comparison. This is not to say Berrios will take a similar jump in stuff and become a true ace like those guys, but it's not unreasonable to think he could.
  12. That sounds like a pretty fair assessment from Law. Although I think the no.3 on our staff statement is debatable. I feel he's right there with Ray as 1A/1B on our staff this year. I think the last sentence sums up the trade succinctly.
  13. Small sample size, but Martin has 1.071 ops in 6 games with Wichita. Still not showing much power, but if he can ever find it, man.
  14. Cheering for Texas is wrong, but come on Rangers.
  15. A roller coaster of emotions this game. Have to give credit. Team kept fighting, even when most of us gave up.
  16. First Dickerson hr as a Jays would be great right now.
  17. Thank god Teo. f*** that ump still. That should have been 2 runs.
  18. Come guys. Have to get at least 1 run here. Can't let Richards off the hook.
