  1. Not giving Matz a QO makes sense because that money can be better spent, but I really hope they spend it wisely rather than Kyle Seager, a couple 4th starters, and a meh pen arm or 2. We need 1 higher end option
  2. Dominguez 6 IP, 2 runs, 1 earned on a HR. Just 3 hits, 0 walks with 6 K's
  3. Dominguez was doing better in his start today until he forgot how to throw a strike in the 4th inning for some reason. 3.2 IP, 4 hits, 3 runs, 4 K's. 4 walks which all came almost back to back to back to back in the 4th before getting pulled.
  4. Moreno 4 for 4 today, 1 walk, 1 sac fly, 3 runs, 2 RBI
  5. Dominguez 4 IP yesterday. 4 runs, 5 hits, 2 BB, 3 K's. 3 run homerun in the 4th.
  6. Dominguez went 3 innings, 6 K's, 3 walks, 3 hits, 3 runs in the AFL yesterday. They've played 4 or 5 games and Moreno hasn't seen any action yet. Not sure why
  7. With those estimates we'd be around 110 million with this roster of 21 Jansen, Vlad, Biggio, Bo, _____, Teo, Springer, Gurriel, _____ Espinal, Grichuk, Kirk, _____ _____, Berrios, Manoah, Ryu, Pearson Romano, Mayza, Cimber, Richards, Stripling, Merryweather, Borucki, _____
  8. Vladdy at 7.9 million is definitely a little bit low, but I would not be surprised if he came in around 10 rather than the higher estimates I have seen here. Even if we ignore than Donaldson comp because Vlad's traditional stats are better he's right around Bellinger's traditional stats and Bellinger played a more valuable position and played it better defensively. I don't see any case based on any data traditional or not that puts Vlad above Bellinger. I guess if Vlad goes higher and says Bellinger is the perfect offensive comp and cites inflation while the Jays lowball so Vlad wins the arbitration case maybe he could get a bit more but I see him coming in just under way more realistic.
  9. You have Vladdy getting 15 million? Donaldson only got 4.3 million(and was only asking for 5.7 million) after consecutive seasons of 7.3 and 5.7 fWAR before being traded to Toronto for his 1st arbitration year. I get that Josh isn't the only comparison out there, but Bellinger has the record at 11.5 after a season of 7.7 fWAR(Boy did he fall off a cliff). I don't see how Vladdy gets 15
  10. Happy to see Michael Dominguez in the AFL. Really think there's something there. He gets another chance to impress. I don't think anyone didn't expect to see Moreno get extra reps there but glad to see it confirmed
  11. Biggio is a fine starter. Espinal looks like he might be a fine starter too. But I don't think you want both in the same everyday lineup trying to win a world series. Ideally they can split based on who is playing better or a platoon(thought Cavan's splits are fairly equal against both L and R) and you can bring in a better starting option who plays everyday who has some flexibility as to playing both 2nd and 3rd. He plays 2nd when Espinal is hot and playing, and he plays 3rd when Biggio is hot and in the lineup. Being able to play 3rd and SS, and Bo plays some 2nd or 3rd is fine as well.
  12. Lets be real. Stroman is about as serious about coming here as Bauer was. If he can say he's willing to come to Toronto to try to help build a bidding war he will and that's about the extent of it.
  13. I don't see them spending all their cash in long term deals. They have about 50-60 million to spend and 2 major holes to fill. 1 of them will be long term and the other a shorter term either buy low for 1 year Semien style, or a Scherzer type of expensive 2 year deal because he's old. Which is which position will depend on what's out there.
  14. There should be about 50-60 million to spend and not many holes to fill. A top notch starter is the obvious one but I think they should have the other 4 spots covered with Manoah, Berrios, Ryu and 1 of Pearson/Stripling/Hatch. Biggio/Espinal can cover 1 infield spot so they can spend a chunk on another options for either 3rd or 2nd. They can't spend all that on long term deals given raises are coming but 1 short and 1 long term seems reasonable with a little chunk for a couple holes in the pen. Ray + Story perhaps? Seager + Syndergaard? Correa + Scherzer? Springer CF Correa/Story/Seager SS Guerrero 1B Bichette 2B Hernandez RF Gurriel LF Kirk DH Jansen C Espinal 3B Grichuk OF Biggio IF/OF Smith IF McGuire C Scherzer/Ray/Syndergaard Berrios Manoah Ryu Pearson/Stripling/Hatch Romano Mayza Richards Cimber _______ _______ Merryweather Stripling/Pearson/Borucki That's a really good team IMO. Better than this year If they were willing to fire Montoyo that wojuld automatically add 10 wins too. Sadly they won't
  15. I would have someone warming from 1st pitch. With how bad Ryu has been lately, and how important the game is you can't afford to have a delay time of 2 batters while someone gets ready
  16. 3 for 1 has 3 games where someone goes home as well. 1st tiebreaker game loser goes home. 2nd tiebreaker game loser goes home. WC game loser goes home.
  17. 4 way tie isn't even that exciting. 2 separate tiebreakers to determine the 2 WC teams. 3 for 2 or 3 for 1 scenarios are better for pure chaos IMO. I guess the thought of 4 of 15 teams tying after 162 games is pretty wild though.
  18. Scenarios from most preferable to least Scenario 7 is the clear best case. 2 chances to get a WC spot, and possibility to host the WC game Scenario 8 next best. Host a tiebreaker which could be against either NYY/SEA, and if it's against SEA we could host the WC game if TOR and NYY win Scenario 3. Hosting a tiebreaker Scenario 4. Only have to win 1 tiebreaker game and it's on the road against a team who played a tiebreaker the day before which could be Seattle Scenario 5. 1 tiebreaker game, but it's a road game against Boston Scenario 6. Have to win 2 tiebreaker games just to make a the WC game Scenario 2. Miss the playoffs Scenario 1. Miss the playoffs and have ourselves to blame
  19. My first thread, so forgive me if I screw something up. There are 8 possible scenarios which would become 5 if Seattle lost tonight which doesn't look likely at this point. * - A starred scenario requires a priority selection of who goes in which spot in a multi-tiebreaker scenario based on head to head. Scenario listed is based on the teams making the common sense decision. If a team does something dumb when making a selection then the situation could change. The option will be listed beneath. To my knowledge in 2016 the results of these selections were known before the final games happened so the schedule would be set as soon as games ended so we should know this before tomorrow's games start. 1. Jays lose = Jays are out 2. Boston win + New York win = Jays are out 3. Jays win + Boston win + New York loss + Seattle loss = 1 tiebreaker. NYY @ TOR, Boston hosts the WC Game 4. *Jays win + Boston win + New York loss + Seattle win = 3 teams for 1 spot. SEA @ NYY, winner hosts TOR, Boston hosts the WC Game Actual options: Team B @ Team A, Team C faces the winner on the road. Toronto picks 1st, New York picks 2nd. Seattle gets the leftover spot 5. Jays win + Boston loss + New York win + Seattle loss = 1 tiebreaker. TOR @ BOS, New York hosts the WC Game 6. *Jays win + Boston loss + New York win + Seattle win = 3 teams for 1 spot. TOR @ SEA, winner hosts BOS, New York hosts the WC Game Actual options: Team B @ Team A, Team C faces the winner on the road. Boston picks first, then Seattle picks. Jays get the leftover spot 7. *Jays win + Boston loss + New York loss + Seattle loss = 3 teams for 2 spots. TOR @ BOS for WC1. Loser @ NYY for WC2. Actual Options: Team B @ Team A. Winner is WC1. Loser @ Team C for WC2. Boston picks first, then Toronto. New York gets the leftover spot 8. *Jays win + Boston loss + New York loss + Seattle win = 4 teams for 2 spots. 2 separate tiebreaker games where winner gets a WC spot, loser is out. Jays host either New York or Seattle. New York decides whether they'd prefer to play @ Toronto or @Boston. Whichever team they don't choose hosts Seattle Actual Options: Team B @ Team A, Team D @ Team C. Boston picks first, then Toronto, then New York. Seattle gets the leftover spot.
  20. If that was the choice then I'd fire Atkins because he should be smarter than that. The decision to fire or not fire a coach shouldn't come down to whether you make the playoffs by a game or miss by a game.
  21. It would work better with a Frank's Red Hot Sauce logo. They put that s*** on everything
  22. The ball wasn't in Borucki's possession when it hit Kiermaier. Based on Kevin's rules of baseball he can't be at fault, it's anyone's ball now.
  23. I didn't say it was dumb, but that it might be, I can understand both sides of that potential argument. Obviously yelling it live during the play wouldn't happen, but I can get behind an argument that once the play is over the umpire has a right to call a runner out for not retouching 3rd without needing the appeal process. The one the other month where the runner missed 1st, and the Jays touched 1st but it didn't count because it wasn't a clear appeal but more of an accident was just beyond dumb though.
