  1. They should really have the option in MLB to forfeit if you are down by 10 or more after 6 innings
  2. Reese McGuire had a 128 wRC+ in 105 PA last year - look at him this year. At least he can play defense. Fisher ios 27 - can't catch a routine fly ball - get rid of him !
  3. f*** off - small sample size!!
  4. Jays should just forfeit and save the BP for tomorrow. No fans in the stands anyways
  5. He would need to hit like Manny Ramirez to make up for that crap. At least Zeke could catch the ball.
  6. Jays DFA'ed the wrong OFer. This guy is total garbage. Missed 2 plays in a row. He is NO GOOD!! It's in his head.
  7. That hit was exactly what he was advertised as - power to all parts of the field. And I think he is looking a lot more in shape, so good on him!
  8. I am thinking that considering the way Roark has pitched so far this season, it would be great for the Jays if he walked off the team in response to being sent to the BP. He seems to have a high enough opinion of himself, that he may figure he can get at least the same from another team in 2021 as the Jays would have owed ($12M). Roark at the moment reminds me of Anibal Sanchez circa 2017 (had gradually gone from 5.9 fWAR in 2013 to 0.5 fWAR in 2017). Sanchez worked to retool his pitch reperatoire in 2018 (especially more use of a cutter) and had 2.5 fWAR in both 2018 and 2019. Roark can't just keep 'dieseling' along as he is right now and be successful - adjust or GTFO!
  9. Dolis has an 'interesting' collection of numbers in his work so far this season (excludes Sunday) per Fangraphs: 10.55 K/9; 5.09 BB/9, 84.4 Ave EV, .176 BA against, 1.17 WHIP 1.69 ERA, 3.29 FIP, 4.23 xFIP 1.69 ERA looks good, but yeah that 4.23 xFIP tells the story of why you responded as you did. I guess all the walks are the biggest issue. Even still a 1.17 WHIP is pretty good. Bottom line: the guy is only making $1M (prorated) this year and the Jays have an option for a 2nd year at $1 M. Seems like a no-brainer to keep him around at that price.
  10. I would say until they hit 25-30 HR with an .800+ OPS over a full season (multiple times), they haven't fully arrived! ETA: I guess that could go for any prospect.....
  11. well those in the know realize that fat is where it's at
  12. Matt Chapman is (obviously ) one of the upcoming stars , but hip surgery is serious s***. Tulo never could turn on a pitch quite the same after his hip problems.....
  13. Yes, except I think 5'9" is a bit of a 'stretch'. More like 5'7". He could be the one that could do it at a higher weight, but I agree better to lose as least some of that excess to improve his chances of long-term success!
  14. This guy is a no-brainer to be a big (no pun intended) fan favorite. He's like a fatter version of Altuve. You gotta love baseball, for guys like this being able to excel at the highest level !
  15. One thing I noticed last season is Vlad continually got screwed on a lot of close ball/strike calls (almost all of them went against him), and I am not sure if that was because of all the hype and the umps collectively wanting to 'make him prove it'. But I think it got him off his game and he has yet to get back on track fully.
  16. Yeah he just needs to stay on top of it. Some people are just naturally prone to be fat and he seems like one of them (like a Pablo Sandoval). I don't expect a 'slim and trim' Vlad, just the guy you mentioned that showed up in Feb. this year.
  17. I don't think anyone can say true or false to what I posted - it is only speculation. I don't trust the 'company line' when they 'assure us' that Vlad works hard and blah blah blah. I think we all want him to succeed but so far he is just not looking very good. The one thing he has on his side is his young age.
  18. I'm just saying that Vlad wasn't the only one that got owned in that inning. But I agree in general, he is under-performing and needs to get his head out of his ass. I agree with the idea that he has gotten by on his pure talent until getting to MLB, and now that it is actually 'hard', he doesn't have the work ethic (especially in physical conditioning, but also in mental toughness and baseball IQ).
  19. did you see that 99 mph 2-seamer that started outside and ran back over the outside edge of the plate? Castro had it going tonight.
  20. Speaking of which, that was a textbook double play, but after being botched by Panik and tagging the pitcher with an earned run instead of getting out of the inning. The value of dependable defense is so overlooked.
  21. won't go as an error but those defensive miscues are absolute killers. No excuse
  22. OK BUT, only if he loses about 30 lb before training camp
  23. I guess the question is whether Merryweather is 'durable' enough to be a successful starter. He is already a big contributor as a bullpen beast. And it's always nice to have a 3 (or 4) headed bullpen monster.
  24. I still like Giles. Speaking of which, could Merryweather be the perfect replacement for Giles assuming he is gone to free agency after this season?
  25. I think the issue is if they have Grichuk, Hernandez, and Gurriel for the OF, you need to move one of them aside (trade) to bring in a better CFer.
