  1. I think the main reason Matz might want to go back to the Mets is that he is a Long Island, New York native, which makes the Mets his hometown team. But since he is getting up there in age (turns 31 this coming May), he would potentially favor a contending team. The Jays seem more likely to offer that opportunity than the Mets in the next couple years. That said, he is good (not great) when healthy. Maybe if he would accept 3/36, it would be a smart signing.......
  2. I don't think it is mission critical to resign either of Semien or Ray. The Jays should NOT overpay for either of these guys. But I am more partial to Semien, as long as he is OK continuing to play 2B (or is he a possible 3B candidate?). Semien is the real deal, but I fear Robbie Ray has peaked and now that the AL has had a full season to see him, he is very vulnerable because he has succeeded in 2021 by mainly using the 4SFB and SL. Two pitch starting pitchers often end up like Ray did this past Thursday (lit up 3rd time through the order by the Yankees). I would keep him at 2 years $30M, with a 3rd year option at $20 M or $5M buyout ($35M guaranteed). I would consider Semien at 4 years, $90-100M, to be worth signing.
  3. I think the person was referring to the Sunday game (game 162) as the one the Yankees "need to lose today". I really think that in the end, that Thursday game is going to be the main nail in the Jays' coffin for 2021. I feel bad for Ray, who had a great year otherwise, but he got exposed as a 2 pitch pitcher who could not spot his fastball in that 6th inning and was subsequently lit up. It reminded me of 2-pitch pitcher Marco Estrada being demolished by the Yankees in the 2017 and 2018 seasons.
  4. OK I'll bite. So we are supposed to take seriously someone with a Kevin Pillar avatar!? One of the most mediocre and overrated outfielders in MLB history. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ETA: does this new avatar suit your sensibilities better!? LOL
  5. The way I see it, as some of the members here are posting that it is no longer 'acceptable' to intentionally throw at an opposing batter. That is modern PC type mentality - the same as the type that would say don't let kids play tackle football (flag only) and no body checking in kids' hockey. As far as Borucki being wild, sure, but I highly doubt that HBP in that situation (game out of hand, very next game after Kiermaier stole someone elses property obviously with malice) wasn't 100% intentional. My point is they sent one mediocre reliever down and brought an even worse one in Barnes up. At least Borucki gives them a second lefty. Is it a coincidence that he was sent down right after this incident? Maybe, but I think Atkins is a corporate stuffed shirt working for a woke corporation so it all seems linked to me. BTW, now I remember why I stopped posting on here. I'll go now. Enjoy yourselves tearing up some other posters who are not in the clique.
  6. I can't believe Borucki got sent down to AAA for some bum named Jacob Barnes with a 6.18 ERA in 27 and 2/3 innings at the MLB level this season, leaving the Jays with only one lefty in their BP going forward. Is this Montoyo and Atkins' way of showing they disapprove of his plunking Kiermaier? So that's what you get for standing up for your team in 2021!? Or is this just a typical Blue Jays PC move. What a joke!!!!!!!!! I sure wouldn't want to play for those 2 clowns!
  7. WOW, I haven't posted on this message board since March! I just want to say I am so happy for Vladdy!!!!!! That HR on Monday was perfect example of how much trimming down has helped him. He does not get to that pitch down and in so effectively with the big belly in the way. Now he is a beast that can not be stopped - he will destroy the ball anywhere you pitch it (same as Miggy in his prime). Question is what do the Jays do with him contract wise going forward (seeing he is a possible MVP at age 22 this season and Canadian born hero)..........
  8. yeah sit guys with minor injuries, early on, is a smart move. Remember that everyone, not just pitchers, needs to go from 60 to 162 games.
  9. but in Ross's defense, he did just sign Yates to a 1 year deal, so I don't fault him here. If Yates had returned to even half his 2019 performance (fWAR wise) this would have been a huge win for the Jays. I think ultimately the Jays rise or fall on the internal personnel anyways. Merryweather setting up Romano could be a pretty good combo (shades of Davis and Holland with the Royals in 2014?)
  10. 2 yr, $16 M for Rosenthal (maybe if the 2nd year is an option that vests with 50 ip in 2021 or 2 M buyout)?
  11. BINGO! we have entered a completely uncharted territory in modern times. Big winners and losers are likely to result! Like, for example, an Elvis Luciano may come out as a dominating beast in 2021. FUN!! times (hopefully)......
  12. Any indication is it due to being in Canada? It is brutal to think of not so long ago all the AAA teams in Canada and now NOTHING! f***!!!
  13. Yeah it (and/or other vaccine candidates) will certainly go through; and even if it is not so effective (like the flu vaccine) will remove any pretense for continuing 'restrictions' on travel etc. Precautions, especially for those known to be more vulnerable will likely continue, but the vast majority including pro sports should hopefully get back to something approximating 'normal'. Problem is that free agency starts in a few weeks, but vaccine penetration and breaking down the arbitrary barriers that the covid19 response has created is going to take a while longer..... Still seems the Jays will have an extra disadvantage (over and above the usual disadvantage in attracting free agents) in this current situation..... Oh well, we can look forward to 2022 at which time Joe is sure to have personally discovered the CURE
  14. His birthday is July 1st - it was pre-ordained that he would be a Blue Jay And he still has a LOT to prove - I agree he would embrace the opportunity to come back to the Jays and show he still has it!
  15. yeah the Jays absolutely can not afford a 2021 season with travel restrictions due to covid19. It would be the likely death knell of the Toronto Blue Jays - then again covid19 restrictions will f*** up the entire MLB if it goes into 2021 season. It will be bad all around!
  16. that's NEVER gonna happen. Davis was always filthy but couldn't get it together as a starter. Roark has always been a marginal MLB talent (his best attributes being lack of injuries and running on diesel). What about signing the prodigal son Aaron Sanchez to a MiLB contract with the expectation of putting him in the BP? Imagine 2015 Sanchez with the bowling ball sinker!
  17. According to the Great Krylian, the Jays do not have a 'true short stop' on the 40 man roster. In that case, there should be NO issue for the Jays "If he wants a guaranteed starting SS position". P.S. too bad you can't put me on ignore (downside of being a moderator?)
  18. pray to god and ask him. He knows all.....
  19. Interesting. I never knew they made it 'blind' to the player. I was only referring to it being a blind auction type thing for the MLB teams where they all just put in their best offer without knowing anyone else's offer.
  20. Malpractice would be not putting forth a very competitive offer. Failing to sign him because someone else outbid is just the way it goes. Problem is knowing what a competitive solid offer should be. It's like a blind auction is it not? BTW I will welcome myself back from 1 week in the sinbin because I know nobody else here will
  21. Wow I never even heard of him, that I recall (I guess because he played during the time I didn't really follow baseball much). Interesting that (from Wikipedia) "Delmon made his major league debut on August 29, 2006, exactly ten years after his older brother. "
  22. Ah we have another amateur comedian here. Yeah f*** you too ! Also, it is God with a capital G, you stupid f***er!!
  23. I am not sure what a "true shortstop" is. Can someone enlighten me here? Or is it like 'ETA', where it's all subjective? Anyways if you want a SS and to contend, then there is Andrelton Simmons on the FA market this fall, so there's that....
  24. yeah that works too. As for me, I am a little uptight right now - seeing your team s*** the bed will do that to a person - so f*** OFF mister comedian!!
  25. ROTFLMAO ok fine, now crawl back under your rock please
