  1. I think the weight may be affecting his game. He probably needs to get down to 240-250 (maybe less) and maintain to fully achieve his potential, especially longer-term.
  2. I think Tellez at 6'4" 255 lb seems a lot closer to current reality than Guerrero who is listed as 2 inches shorter and 5 pounds less. It seems Tellez somewhat maintained the weight loss he had when showing up in Feb. I am guessing Vlad is currently more like 270-280 lb (assuming the 6'2" is accurate). That ass is huge!
  3. Well I only mean for the remainder of this season, since it will be hard to properly ramp up / stretch out to be a starter again if/when he comes back. He still seems like he could be a top end starter but a little more seasoning at AAA this year really would have benefited him hugely!
  4. Oh yeah signing Happ going into 2016 (one of their 1st moves) turned out well, but I meant the Happ trade to NYY, since both Drury and McKinney aren't looking like they will amount to much.
  5. Not so sure about Pearson, who was looking a little ineffective and velocity down (maybe it was due to sore elbow?). Hopefully he could go to the bullpen and contribute more. The other 3 you listed are obviously all massive help when they come back. This was a weird game, especially in this hitter's ballpark with 14 total hits and only 2 XBH (each team with 1 double). Nice to see the Jays win without having to depend on the HR!
  6. yeah I can't think of any other good FA signings by this management team. Roark and Anderson could turn out ok (for what they were expected to be) although I guess Anderson was technically a trade. Shaw looks pretty bad right now, but he is not being paid much, and they can non-tender him after the season if they want. Probably their record right now looks better from the trade front. Consider some of the guys they have acquired via trade (GILES, Grichuk, Hernandez, Hatch, Waquespack, Kay + Woods-Richardson) and what was given up in return. Of course the Happ trade turned out to be s*** but you can't with them all.
  7. Maybe lost in all the late game excitement was another solid 6 ip by Ryu. So far so good on his signing by Atkins.
  8. Just remember they have been rolling lately since Bichette went down (9 and 3), so when he comes back that will be huge and I hope they dump Panik (can't even get a bunt down). But another veteran upgrade on Panik would be huge right now. As mentioned above, only half game back of the Yanks (with 10 games against them still to come - that will be great to watch - hopefully). Also they are only 2.5 back of the current 7th place team (Indians) who themselves are only 1/2 game back of both Twins and White Sox. Should be an interesting month coming up ! ETA: Indians won so now there is a 3 team tie at the top of the AL Central.
  9. Dude, I agree that 'doing something' is important. But, first and foremost we all should educate ourselves with the actual data, not news media talking points on isolated anecdotal incidents. See the work of Heather Mac Donald, if you want the real goods. I don't think MLB players accomplish anything by 'boycotting' games. The demographic most into baseball (white guys over 40 years old) are not buying into the narrative. BAD BUSINESS ETA: doing 'something' is often worse than doing nothing if you are acting on incorrect information and/or ignoring conflicting info (see Operation Market Garden for a good example).
  10. just my luck we get a MLB team and I can't go watch them !! Seriously, good luck for a great 2020 for the Toronto Blue Jays of Buffalo
