  1. WTF is your problem?! so enlighten me Mr. Einstein, what does 'ETA' mean?
  2. Earl Weaver style: 1 to 2 dink singles, a walk then a HR
  3. shove it up your cat's ass !!!
  4. could they do 1 million per game pitched (minimum 4 innings) for 3 years. Seems that would be doable under the current rules...
  5. I don't think you know your ass from a hole in the ground. In this context ETA, means editted to add, (not estimated time of arrival, if that is what you are thinking). Other than that I can't help your feeble mind.....
  6. Why the hell would the Jays want to go after Gregorius when superior players including Andrelton Simmons (best defensive SS of this era??) and Marcus Semien are also available as free agents?! Hell, let's just bring Jeter out of retirement - that should solve the problem !! ETA : Gregorius was the master of hitting s*** HRs into the short porch in new Yankee Stadium. He is a decent player but not good.
  7. well what ever you do , don't be salty. I know Missisauga's Pompey crashed and burned but you still have Naylor (also Missisauga) and Cal Quantrill (Port Hope, ON) to root for along with the ancient Joey "I don't care about Canadian baseball" Votto! https://canoe.com/sports/baseball/reds-toronto-born-votto-i-dont-care-about-canadian-baseball
  8. LOL, thanks for the laugh. Mikey is only 23 years old and is already a beast at the MLB level after having come up with very questionable regular competition other than what he experienced with the national junior team (he was drafted out of Calgary at the high school level). You really think a young guy like that will not come back from the Achilles injury? If so, please tell the ancient Adam Wainwright about the impossibility of such a return. This guy might be the best thing we have seen since Fergie (I was too young to actually see Fergie, but still).
  9. My wife grew up 10 miles from the US border, although that was Montana/Alberta, not Windsor/Sewer (aka Detroit). More importantly, is there any doubt of my assertion that Calgary's own Mike Soroka is our best Canuck in the MLB currently (Joey is getting a little long in the tooth)!? ETA: I will take that non-response by any of you Southern Ontario boys as a begrudging YES, LOL
  10. OK seems you are right both parents born in Canada. He specifically said he chose to play for Canada in honor of his Canadian mother, who died when he was only 10 years old. But he is born and raised in California. As I said, he is 'eligible' to apply for Canadian citizenship by having at least one Canadian citizen parent. Wikipedia says he 'carries dual citizenship' so may have applied and received the Canadian born abroad status. I know the drill: my wife and I are both born and raised Canadians with 2 kids born and raised in the USA. We decided not to pay the ridiculous fee (about 400 bucks per application 10 years ago). For a Freddie Freeman, that is pocket change. https://twitter.com/FreddieFreeman5/status/829502282060414977/photo/1 ETA: Mike Soroka who in the words of the legendary Don Cherry is "good Western Canadian boy" is our best player in MLB right now. Freeman is not a 'real Canadian' having grown up in Kalifornia - regardless of official citizenship status. Speaking of which, Cleveland now has both young Quantrill and Josh Naylor (went 4 for 4 in game 1 and then a 2 RBI double in game2). Cleveland is seriously challenging Atlanta for 'Canadian content' !
  11. Well like I said, his mom is Canadian so he could apply and receive Canadian citizenship (along with paying the Canadian government a boatload of money to process the application - it's pretty much a 99.9 % certainty it goes through - as far as I know there is no age cutoff). So he is sort of Canadian and yes he is a good dude for how he went out of his way to play for our WBC team. Total class act.
  12. just to clarify, he is not Canadian. His mom is Canadian but he is born and raised in USA. He is not a Canadian citizen unless he applied for citizenship born abroad. Vlad is different. Born in Canada so he is a citizen.
  13. So is your thinking that if the team that beat out the Jays does well in subsequent round(s), it makes the Jays look less bad for being pounded by them? I have definitely had that thinking in the past but my resentment usually wins out. The part that pisses me off in these 2 games is the better team got pretty much all the bounces (BABIP was way in their favor with lots of s***** hits). But our guys also beat themselves (run scored on WP / inability to block yesterday, pitiful hanging slider from Cole against Margot, and then there was poor Bo today).....
  14. could do it - they are solid all the way around. But I always hate teams that beat out my team in the playoffs, so I could almost see myself hoping the Damn Yankees knock them out (assuming Yanks advance). If it's Cleveland, then no doubt I will be hoping for them over the Rays.
  15. Hopefully he can carry this into next season and become the good all around catcher we thought he could be.
  16. Imagine if Jansen hit another dinger in this nightmare game. What a mixed feelings he would have (bad enough already). Well maybe it's not so bad - Jays were expected to lose the series anyways.
  17. Totally we need a better CFer. Davis would be nice but he is too much of a defensive liability.
  18. maybe Bichette to 3rd and Biggio at 2B ? Or wasn't the big question on Bichette the arm strength - if so maybe 3B not right for him.
  19. Yeah anyone who didn't try their hardest to avoid this Jays house of horrors was being a fool (hello Chuck). I really think he was looking forward to a chance at trying to beat the Rays. Maybe he feels a little salty he got passed over for their manager's job after so many years faithful service to the org.
  20. Yeah at least can work on making the final score not look too embarrassing.
  21. Just reminded me Andrelton Simmons is a free agent this year.
  22. So maybe people should stop all this talk about moving Austin Martin to CF and instead talking about moving Bo to 2B and leaving Biggio at 3B ?
  23. Exactly. Power pitching is always preferable. There are very few exceptions like Maddux.
  24. I think they are just getting exposed as simply not good enough yet. But at least they showed this year they are moving in the right direction.
  25. On the other hand, they only got 1 run on 4 hits and an inning extending error. So the Jays should feel fortunate and go get em!
