    Giving up a comp pick for 1 year of Conforto? The Semien deal was awesome because we didn't have to give a comp pick and actually got one for him. We'd have to sign him to a 2 year deal at least in order to make it worthwhile imo. Otherwise, we would have been better off overpaying Pederson by a few mill to platoon instead.

    The more ive thought about it, the less im for trading a bunch of prospects for Ramirez. Kirk/Groshans/Pearson is as high I'd go, which still includes 3 top level prospects. Springer Ramirez Vlad Bo Teo Chapman Gurriel Biggio Jansen Let Biggio be the 10th man who let's others rotate through the DH spot. That's easily the best Jays lineup of all time.

    Exactly my thoughts. People had Semien batting 6th/7th before the season started last year. If he looks great in spring training, he will go 2nd. If not, he bats 5th. Springer Chapman Vlad Bo Teo Gurriel Kirk Grichuk Biggio

    I was just thinking of Hamilton as a Dyson replacement. Both suck at the plate and should only be used for defense and pinch running. Obviously if we can find a more complete player then we should do so.

    I will judge Martinez's first at bat as to whether I want to include in a future Ramirez trade lol.

    This would be horrible news since both teams are our direct competition for the top spots in the AL. Hopefully Shatkins can come over the top on a 1 year deal here. Is there a comp pick attached with Story?

    I'm shocked with the Correa deal. I'm surprised he didn't take the Tigers off and just asked for an opt out clause after 3 years or something. This is the definition of "betting on yourself" so hope it works out for him.

    I was about to respond to this too but the thread got locked for some reason lol. He put up 27 in a massive park in Oakland. He'll get to 30 in his sleep as long as he stays healthy.

    I read that as I'm willing to go to the Jays and play 2B like Semien did lol. Springer Bo Vlad Teo Chapman (he will be back to 2019 form) Story Gurriel Kirk Biggio (plays all over the diamond while we rotate DH's)

    My God... imagine the day the Angels want to trade Trout. What would be the return for him if we'd give all that up for 2 years of Ramirez.

    That sounds great but do you do it even if you know the chances to keep him are slim after 2 years? Our competitive window is just starting so I'm not in favour of depleting our team for 2 years and be left with nothing after that. This needs to be a sustained window of success. I'd rather be a 95 win team consistently for 6 years than be a 100 win team for 2 years and then be a 90 win team afterwards. Hope that makes sense.

    So tomorrow's game won't be broadcasted even though they have all their guys there? The Jays ppl keep talking about how great their Spring Training site is and yet they can't afford a couple of cameras there lol.

    Pearson, Biggio, Kirk and a low level prospect is as far as I would go assuming we could sign Jose to an extension. I don't want to give up a bunch of good young controllable talent for a 2 year rental. The difference between Jose and a comeback version of Biggio is not worth the risk for me.

    I'm surprised he got close to Pederson and even more surprised that this got its own thread lol. I want my backup OF to be able to play CF adequately and pinch run if needed. His bat wasn't good enough to offset that imo.

    As long as Springer plays in some of the games, I'm fine with him doing whatever he thinks he needs to be ready by opening day. It is weird since getting live at bats and fielding should be the best way so let's see. Sounds like something someone would say who either isn't in good shape or nursing an injury. Especially when you consider spring training is already shortened.

    Because I thought we could get him to a reasonable deal before he blows up. The Jays did the same thing with Semien by offering him a long term deal at what wiuld be considered a massive bargain now right now. Unfortunately for us, Semien rightfully bet on himself and got paid much much more by the Rangers.

    Baerga said on his Instagram Live that there's a 85% chance Ramirez becomes a Jay. Now whether happens now or at the trade deadline depending on how Cleveland is doing is TBD.

    It's pretty much how it played out with Semien who was coming off a down year. Chapman will uptick in HRs just going from Oaklands ballpark to the Rogers Center. I'm expecting great things from Chapman who will be on the verge of looking for his life setting payday. I'd love if we could lock him up longterm now.

    Especially when you consider Grichuk would take up like 20% of their overall payroll lol.

    Ya it could be the Edwin situation where the Braves actually got a great player instead of the corpse of Morales. I'm sure we'll find out the truth in a few days.
