Not a fan of a the Yankees tbh. Their offense was mainly 2 players last year and they just lost 1 of them.
Orioles will always be a threat with their core but lost Burnes and Santandar.
Astros lost tucker and most likely Bregman.
My point is that almost every team in the AL feels the same or worse, the Jays could easily be there with any of them.
It's the NL where there are much better teams than the Jays without question.
Would love to see Scherzer just for the dynamics between him and the front office. If we thought Chapman, Whit, Bassitt, etc. were "outspoken," this has the entertainment value of 100 written all over it lol.
If we get Alonso, I don't give a f*** who gets credit... MY JAYS will be back and entertaining again. Sucks that I got my heart set on getting Alonso or Bregman now. Don't let me downnnnnn.
Hey I'm with you... our writers have been poo pooing our entire off-season. Really hope Hector is right because I'm salivating thinking of all the home runs we could see with Alonso in the lineup.
I was just responding to the back and forth above me. Not sure what part of what I said is complaining, I'd be happy as hell if we landed Alonso and have said many times i LOVED the Santandar deal. Pointing out who I'd prefer to give the credit to isn't complaining...
Great deal but this team is still an impact bat and starter away from being serious. That means the team would have a 300M payroll so if you want to to give credit to someone to field a competitive squad with that level of payroll and a crappy farm system then more power to you. I'd probably give my credit to Rogers for stepping up and spending that much in this scenario.
I have 0 respect for our local guys, especially when it comes to breaking news but it would be crazy for them to say this and then we sign either of them shortly.
Maybe it's because I've been scorned by Vlad that if you remove the contract incentive from a fatty that he'll revert to the frustrating guy we've seen for half his tenure here.
Just don't understand from the Mets standpoint but whatever... their stupidity could be our gain.
Ya I was making this exact point in the other thread. Why let Alonso leave for 3/75 but then be interested paying Vladdy 12/450 or whatever it would take. Getting Alonso for a 4 years or less deal is a friggin home run for any team, let alone the team he's grown with.
Ya I wasn't saying that Vlad isn't better than Alonso but just noting the massive difference between the two in terms of dollars. I would rather have Alonso for the next 4 years at 100M than having Vlad at 450M and deal with the backend of that albatross.
There was a reason why no 1st baseman cracked the 300M mark and now there are reports Vladdy might even get to 500M. Would love both but was just making a comment from an outside team like the Mets.
I've been F5ing even more than usual waiting for this man. Signing him or Bregman will give me the "we're so back" moment.
Hopefully this will be closer to 2015 than to 2013 but the excitement will be there regardless until opening day lol.
Jays can literally go from a joke offensively into a must watch team if we land Alonso. Would still prefer Bregman because of his fit defensively but I'd still be super happy with him.
