  1. I've said that this is an awesome strategy to employ. We literally have nothing to lose except building some goodwill with some agents and maybe get a player we weren't expecting to get under market value. I said the frustration comes when this is the same strategy being employed when this team has no choice but to build through free agency the past 2 off-season. The only options we had this off-season were to either overpay free agents or rebuild. Right now the Jays are choosing Option C that no one wants, which is to suck at both lol.
  2. Of course we know we stink. You don't gotta tell me when I've been "crying" about the bad moves we've been making the past few years while you and your crew were loving everything these guys were doing lol. The topic here was why we've been "in on" so many guys. This isn't a 1 year problem. We have been reported to be in on free agents even when we were winning the past few years. We do our due diligence on majority of the free agents and make lowball offers on the ones they don't absolutely love and make actual offers for the ones they do. It's why our name seems to float around on so many guys.
  3. Just using logic based on the reporting that's available. Would love to hear your analysis rather than your pointless 1 liners lol.
  4. Ya I think Shatkins just like to stick to their price points and hope to find a bargain. It's like the guy who sends decent trade proposal in fantasy but never quite good enough to make the deal happen. In a normal world, this is a great method of targeting free agents to ensure you don't constantly overpay guys and screw your team long term. The only problem with the Jays is that they don't have a good enough farm system to utilize this strategy now since most believe they need to spend their way out of this mess or just full out rebuild. That frustration is just coming out in different way for folks lol.
  5. While I agree with the pessimism, reaching "finalist" status does mean you have a legit offer on the table. Now whether any of the remaining free agents take that offer is another story. Jays seem hellbent on not trying to overpay anyone so are hoping some of the players fall into their price range, which could happen with folks at this stage of free agency.
  6. Seems like a follow up on the original tweet. Not sure why a Cardinals account has more info than our own folks but here we are.
  7. Ari Alexander of the Houston-based NBC affiliate KPRC2, has reported that three teams appear to be in on the former Astros third baseman: the Detroit Tigers, Boston Red Sox, and Toronto Blue Jays. The Tigers are looking to spend and compete after a surprise postseason run in 2024 while the Red Sox have toyed with the idea of moving Rafael Devers off third base where his glove can be problematic. The Jays could use both Bregman's steady glove and solid power at the hot corner. It's always concerning to see a power righty come out of Houston given that the Crawford boxes are easy exploits for pull hitters. It turns out, Bregman actually hit slightly more career home runs on the road than he did at Minute Maid.

  9. Give the guy a break, I'm pretty sure he's looking at the possibility of using free agency to potentially add to the team if the parameters of the players and team align lol.
  10. Ya I get Vlads performance has made this far from a black and white issue when looking at the long picture. At this stage, he has set the beginning of training camp as the deadline for any extension talks. Everything he has said since becoming a Jay is that he wants to be here forever. We just haven't seen anything reciprocal from the Jays management team but they should already know what their cutoff price is by now. I just don't understand why communication with your best player has to drag for so long. I thought the Jays brass would be arranging these meetings ASAP so they can also move accordingly for the rest of free agency. This lax approach is just weird for me... like what else are you doing with your time that is more important.
  11. I think the Jays missed the boat on maximizing any potential return by not doing this right away in free agency before other teams could already plug those holes. Vlads been with the organization long enough that there needed to be a lot more back and forth communication on an extension before today. At this stage, it would be anyone's guess what we could get back but my assumption would be that the Mets would offer us the most in such a scenario.
  12. Ya I wanted Teo all along but we desperately need to improve our offense from the corner OF spot and he's the best player out there for that. We still need 1 more power bat in the top 4 of the lineup but I doubt this team will be able to add it.
  13. So maybe the Spanish reports were true that we've given him a formal offer that hes close to accepting. Hopefully it's at the 4/82 mark but feel like the Jays are gonna have to give the extra year to get anyone to sign here this offseason. Let's see.
  14. We don't need another serious organization in our division. This is what teams probably said about us from 2022 - Present Day lol
  15. For a bunch of folks who live and die by analytics, I'm surprised how they're not seeing the probability of getting more value if he was traded ASAP vs trading him at the deadline lol. In the end, you never know what tomorrow holds but don't you want your team to pick the probability with the best odds of benefiting the Jays?
  16. I'm good with not posting this stuff but seemed like this board was transitioning to creating new threads for new news rather than the old approach of having everything included in 1 thread. He seemed to have a lot of suitors but that's probably more to do with his glove.
  17. Honestly, I put him part of the steroids era. This dude was a complete scrub who turned into a monster out of nowhere. Although I think people thought the same of Jose Bautista so impossible to know lol.
  18. Dodgers taking another guy the Jays were rumored to be involved in lol
  19. I mentioned to do that a few times as the Pelicans did it with Zion in the NBA but Vladdy has all the leverage here. I'm sure teams would offer him the money without this clause. Just sucks but the Jays gotta find their breaking point like yesterday so they can proceed to make the required moves to improve this team going forward.
  20. It was crazy how all we heard was a first baseman has never cracked the 300M contract mark but here we are. I still think the Soto contract is absurdly stupid so that should definitely never be used as a benchmark for your decisions. I'm also not a fan of people with Vlad's body type and if you take away his incentives to stay in shape, how will he look in his 30s...
