  1. Unless they surprise everyone and make some big moves now... the common sense approach would be to do it right now when their values would be higher. They aren't fooling any fans this year... rogers center will be empty after the first week based on our current trajectory.
  2. He tried that last year and failed... it isn't going to work magically this year lol. We can win another Team Gold Glove and still suck while being completely unwatchable.
  3. Well ****... **** this off-season lol
  4. Who even would still be in the market for Bregman other than us? Yankees?
  5. Is this a sign that the market may be cooling off? There are still tons of impactful players on the market and I'm not sure i can see all of them getting a huge payday.
  6. It's just so weird man... if we had that money, we could literally plug all our holes and be super competitive this upcoming season.
  7. I honestly think this is the approach we need to take so we can spend every other cent on bats and 1 closer. The Burnes talk is us putting all our eggs in the starters basket while ignoring the rest of the team.
  8. Exactly... I thought I clearly said allowing Shatkins to be in charge, of what is the most important off-season for our future with Bo/Vlad in their last year, is crazy. Ownership has done exactly what we had hoped for by allowing such a big budget. It's just them keeping Shatkins around that is clearly their fault right now, we'll see how it eventually plays out.
  9. It's hard to say Vlad wouldn't have accept a contract offer before if they never offered him a reasonable one before. Now after the Soto deal and the season he just had, it's obvious the Jays need to meet his price or trade him. It shouldn't even be that hard to determine by now but here we are... we have a front office that won't be allowed to rebuild while keeping their jobs to make this decision. That's the stupidity of ownership and no one else at this point.
  10. The Jays could have started contract negotiations well before Soto's free agency. The fact they didn't try to keep open communication on trying to lock up their best player says everything about these idiots. Their history of re-signing players also shows how they like to operate, which only works if you maintain a great farm system. It's in Rogers best interest to fire these guys ASAP and let the new person make decisions on the future on this franchise. It will also give an excuse when we try to negotiate with Vlad/Bo and other free agents going forward. Vladdy holds ALL the leverage at this point and you can't fault him for using it now... just like the Jays front office held all the leverage prior to this off-season and didn't try hard enough to get anything done based on Vladdy's words.
  11. It's so beautiful seeing everyone being aligned on exactly what our needs are... make it happen Rogers!!
  12. I think our team needs big bats and a true closer more than a number 1 starter. I also don't trust Bregman on any deal more than 5 years but that's the price you pay for plugging holes through free agency.
  13. I'd probably say this is the most aligned I've seen the board in terms of what this team needs to do in order to be relevant next season. Most of us also agree that if we can't achieve most of what's required then this team needs to trade Vlad/Bo to begin the rebuild ASAP. So what exactly does the team need to do to avoid a rebuild in your eyes? I understand the list might sound unreasonable but that's usually the case for a team coming off 74 wins. Personally, the team would need to: - Trade for Helsley/Matz - Sign Teo - Sign Bregman - Re-sign Vlad - Trade Bo for the best package of MLB ready players - Sign the best cheapest backup catcher possible To me the above just seems very unrealistic but those would be the terms where I could get behind the team next season. If you can't come close to it then please start the rebuild so our next contention window won't take forever to get to.
  14. Half of Spanky's posts are gonna be unreadable now lol
  15. It's festivus for the rest of us lol
  16. They have literally bullied hundreds of posters off this board because they don't sign off on practically every move this front office made. It has been hilarious to see them backtracking and join the fire Shatkins bandwagon but still try to sound so condescending about it lol.
  17. Yup... was just mentioning that once these guys are off the board, it is officially time to hit the panic button. Most rational folks already felt that way before the off-season started. It was going to take like 75M in free agency for the team to fill all its major holes while extending Bo/Vlad on top of that to have a chance to be competitive going forward. Just wondering wtf tweedle dee and tweedle dum are doing because it sure as hell isn't actually getting things done lol.
  18. Players are flying off the market. I guess it'll be time to officially panic once Burnes/Teo/Bregman/Santandar fall off the board lol.
  19. Awesome news... thanks to Admin for keeping this place afloat and thanks to Brock for wanting to take this to the next level
  20. Report: Yankees snag Goldschmidt on 1-year, $12.5M deal https://thescore.com/mlb/news/3166847
  21. Report: Yankees interested in Goldschmidt, Arenado tandem https://thescore.com/mlb/news/3166336 Yankees are not messing this summer. They could easily be a much better team after losing Soto even if Goldschmidt/Arenado aren't what they used to be.
  22. I like the cut of your jib. That's exactly the type of lineup this team needs to be a World Series contender and it's realistic to obtain imo. Make the Blue Jays Great Again Ross!!
  23. Meh .. he's a First Baseman whos turning 34 in March... I don't think his fall off will be that drastic but impossible to judge since every player has their own motivations in life.
  24. That's a really good deal for Walker. Astros should get his remaining good year in the MLB.
  25. In this situation, the Jays would STILL need 2 big bats. I can get behind this depending on the return for Bo since he looks like a goner anyways and hoping Bregman doesn't cost 200M.
