  1. I think so, too. If the Jays struggle around the .500 mark, which they will all season, then I would love to fill the minor leagues with excellent prospects for anyone older, or close to FA.
  2. I feel like we can all save some time by just starting the game down 5-0.
  3. Tonight, the Jays will notch 3 hits and 1 run.
  4. I think you're being sarcastic, but against righties I would think about this.
  5. I wish they would ride the hot hand going into the season if this continues all spring. I really hate it when players we could lose to rule 5 have amazing ST and then aren't selected to stay with the team once the season begins.
  6. Episode 1 was fantastic. A must watch.
  7. Votto > Vogelbach. I mean, c'mon, Votto has HOF numbers. It's no risk, high reward. I love this signing. It is overdue. I do not think Votto would continue playing unless he knew he has the skill to compete. I want to see him end his career as a Jay. Yes, I like maple syrup. FFS, he bats left. Depending on his ST, I would love to see him get a lot of ABs. Dunno. I remember when the Jays signed Molitor and Winfield in the 1992-93 era. They were similar. Old, almost washed up, but f***ing produced.
  8. Atkins reports today that he is really happy going ahead with today's roster if there are no more adds. Sweet. Should we plan the parade?
  9. I will go on record and say the Blue Jays will NEVER sign a big free agent player from Japan.
  10. I was having a good discussion about the Blue Jays with some friends who are super fans over the weekend. It would suck, but it's almost like the way out of the malaise the team finds itself in is to trade the core, including Vladdy and Bo. It's not working, and is just going to get worse until they leave. We can stock the f*** out of the farm and get some high ceiling, controllable talent in return. Or, we can put lipstick on a pig, and go over the $190M payroll threshold with a club that will be worse than 2023. The latter is likely where we are headed, because the former would cost Atkins his job, and maybe Shapiro, too.
  11. If Tiedemann gets traded, an already bad 2023 becomes immeasurably worse.
  12. It's muddled for sure. Now it will likely be a bunch of meh, unless they can pry some great talent under decent control for a team trying to free up payroll. 2023 has been a BAD year for the Jays.
  13. I agree. I cannot recall MLB Trade Rumors every being wrong, tbh, and I have followed that site for > 10 years.
  14. I wonder how many fans like us are passionately following this story? I check my Twitters source, Baseball Rumors, Sportsnet, etc. probably 100 times a day. This would be soooo big. I would lose my f***ing mind. But if he doesn't sign, kudos to the front office for almost making it happen. IMO, they have tried their absolute best and left nothing behind to give this a whirl.
  15. There are probably 7 guys in the org right now who would end up with higher fWAR than JD after the 2024 season.
  16. In all seriousness, if the Jays sign Ohtani, could the team live with an internal option playing 3B? Assuming the money isn't endless? If the Jays played Orelvis all year at 3B, what do you think his fWAR would/could end up being? How about Palmegiani? Is it possible for a prospect like one of these guys to hit > 2 fWAR their first year? That would free up cash to be spent elsewhere.
  17. The only source I trust is Marty York.
  18. What sort of statement or message from the front office would you like to see?
  19. This made me laugh out loud.
  20. That wasn't my takeaway. My takeaway was use them, but also give significant weight to common sense and baseball experience (management). His point about Berrios was a good one. Some players would demand a trade after that. Anyway, I like Sid, and I liked his rant. But I am not sure I agree with him 100% either. I don't have the answers to mitigate this f***ing disaster of a season going forward. The easy thing to do would be to clean house, but is that the answer? Is anyone waiting in the wings that's amazing and will turn this s*** around right now? I don't know.
  21. True. I haven't written him off yet. I think he bounces back next year. I could do without the f***ing awful Manoah commercials on Sportsnet, though. I want to punch my TV, or claw my eyes out, when I see them.
  22. I 100% thought the season was over after the Texas sweep. I wasn't even angry, just resigned to our destiny and was starting to think about 2024.
