  1. heh, well I tend to avoid any athlete social media, so maybe it's a good thing in this case
  2. Maybe I was being a tad sensational, but no one on talk radio has seemed very impressed with it and I've seen a good amount of twitter takes and no one is applauding it from a Blue Jay perspective... Even the Rogers lackeys on Sportsnet have been pretty lukewarm about it.
  3. There was still 3 days left until the deadline... The fact that "it was the best deal they received" at that point means very little. Everyone is tight with their poker-face while negotiations are ongoing. s*** doesn't get real until the day before the deadline. That's why we've seen so few transactions thus far. They're trying to put lipstick on a pig with this one. Let's call it how it is, folks. Getting 2 lottery picks for the best starter on the market who happens to have an additional year of control is not a good strategy.
  4. At the Jays too. The expert consensus seems to be that the return is light and most wonder why they were so trigger happy.
  5. Well, I never see people get as up and arms over Stro's kinda theatrics when it's a white guy doing it. Hell, the fans couldn't get enough of a guy like Grilli when he was pumping his fists and hollering when he completed an inning. I'm the last guy to to throw around the racism card, but this forum has always been a little weird about Marcus Stroman from the time I started browsing. I dunno maybe I'm overreacting, it's just that Stroman's been my favorite Jay for years, so it's odd for me to see everyone blasting him.
  6. It won't change a thing. He's a passionate guy and he deeply cares about winning. Sure, he's cocky, but so what? At the end of the day, it's just entertainment after all and Stroman's a helluva athlete. I'm definitely gonna miss seeing him play for the Jays.
  7. They panicked and made the deal 4 days before the deadline. How do you know what offers may have arose? He's the best guy on the market, once other guys started to get traded the demand would've picked up... And if not, then I assume the Mets deal would still be there for the taking. It's amateur hour all around with this deal and even rival scouts and analysts are left scratching their heads.
  8. I gotta say, I'm surprised at all the people s***ing on Stroman. He's easily been our best pitcher since Roy Halladay and he's a blast to watch. He's provided us with some of the more sensational story lines and moments than anyone since the 92/93 WS runs. Sure, he's certainly a cocky kinda guy, but if he puts up results, who really cares? No one seemed bothered when guys like Clemens and Shilling acted arrogantly, I honestly think there's a little racism involved here. Stroman's been one of the funnest Jays to watch in recent memory. Right up there with guys like Bautista and Encarnacion. I'm sad that he's gone and disappointed with the assets they got for him.
  9. Bottom line is, if you're gonna trade the best starting pitcher on the market, you gotta get a piece or 2 that are nearly ready to make an impact at the big league level. Just consider how many promising hard throwing pitchers in A ball that have never panned out. SWR's path to the big leagues is so far away and anything can happen... We all now how these guys can drop like flies with injuries. And then there's Kay who's already 24 and hasn't performed at a satisfactory level above AA where he's only netted 66 innings. It's a s*** trade, no 2 ways about it. Many of you guys are trying to put lipstick on a pig with this one.
  10. His groundball rates are off the charts though. Should definitely be seen as a righteous asset in the juiced ball era.
  11. I dunno man. Maybe. I think people are way too quick to jump the gun with the hype regarding SWR. Sure, the A-ball numbers look great, but we're talking the prize of the trade market. Stroman's a great pitcher in the toughest division to pitch in, you gotta get a better return than this, plain and simple. And the Jays are even paying part of Sto's salary. It's not good guys. And why jump the gun so soon? It's not like this was an offer that they couldn't refuse. I'm not impressed. It's a mediocre return at best, much like the Atkins tenure has been.
  12. Good lord... I was expecting more than... this. I'd be a little disappointed if Stroman was a rental and this was the return we got. I'd honestly prefer getting Frazier and a lottery ticket back from the Yanks. I see the appeal in Richardson, but man, Stro is literally the best SP on the market with an additional year of control. We should've got a haul. This front-office sucks. I miss Anthopolous
  13. Former Jays farmhand Asher Wojciechowski just carvin' up the Angels... They look pitiful. Shame of a season so far, on paper it looked like this might've been a year they could crack the playoffs.
  14. Angels starting to stink it up at the worst time possible. Seems like they're gonna drop their 2nd in a row at home to the pitiful Orioles.
  15. He obviously doesn't like Atkins, why should he play along with the charade? Say what one will about Anthopolous, the guy did have a great repertoire with the players. He was even able to sign some of the team stars to team friendly contracts, that's certainly a rare feat in this day and age. AA was good at coming across as just "one of the guys" whereas Shatkins seem to me as just your typical type of empty suits.
  16. Haha love Stroman calling out their weasel talk
  17. That's the problem with these tank seasons, they can be awfully demoralizing and it can affect the performance of the young players. Young players coming up in an atmosphere of success can be invaluable.
  18. I know, brother. I'm just mildly annoyed cause I had the Jays +1.5 in a couple parlays. Just 25 dollars in total though, but still an annoyance as the other games in the wagers are looking golden. I should've known better than to back a team with nothing to play for, but I thought they might show up, seeing as that it's likely Stroman's last game.
  19. Not to mention the implications for the other teams in the playoff run who are competing against the Tribe.
  20. B.S. You gotta at least use the tools you have in order to give the team the best chance of winning for the integrity of the game. There's still fans paying good money and watching across the country.
  21. All the surrounding bums should go. This regime really hasn't done a good job of implementing a supporting cast around the up and comers... Just bums all around.
  22. 2 run game and they have Wilmer Font pitching in the 9th? f*** off Montoyo!
  23. We gotta start the pools going regarding whether or not he finishes the year above or below replacement level
  24. Yeah man, even Tabby saw that one coming from a mile away
  25. man, had the Jays +1.5... Run there will probably be the dagger considering how these schmucks are swinging the bat tonight.
