  1. First comedy special that had me laughing out loud in a long, long time
  2. I dunno man. I knew they wouldn't have a winning record, but I didn't expect them to be Orioles level bad. They're gonna finish the year around 40 games below 500. There's no way to spin it other than it being a botched execution by management. A showing that bad is unacceptable. It's Shapiro's 4th season, most people expected more by now.
  3. I was simply making some commentary regarding the media coverage at the time and some people got all pissy. And lets be honest with one another, as fans, do you guys feel good about this season as a whole? I sure don't. Even Vladdy, sure, you see the talent there. But I think most of us would've hoped that he'd be putting up more than a 1-1.5 WAR season. I know the game has changed and no one bats an eyelash when teams punt seasons, but as a fan, I don't get much enjoyment from watching a team finish the season at 40 games under 500
  4. I am a little bit, yeah... If you told me at the beginning of the year that they'd be 31 games below 500 in early September in a season with Vlad and Bo up, I'd have been very surprised and disappointed. Even Vegas anticipated that the team would've produced a lot better this year. So ya, it hasn't been an enjoyable season for me as a fan.
  5. Gotta try and polish the turds to hype up all the casual fans
  6. Lol. Yeah, I hate to be "that guy"... But man, this team just seems so far away. They sorta remind me of the 2017 White Sox or something. I was hoping by the time that Vlad and Bo were up that they'd be ready to make a little noise, but there's just no supporting cast.
  7. To be fair, Happ was a very valuable piece for the Yanks down the stretch last year.
  8. bases loaded, nobody out, and the heart of the order can't even score a run. This is what I'm talking about regarding the offense, folks... It's not good
  9. Well, since my OP the team has continued to lose and struggle offensively... Gonna be 7 losses out of their last 8 with McKay and some bullpen scrubs 1 hitting them tonight. Look, I'm not trying to be negative, but the offense looks like it's going to be a problem going forward. Shapiro's mission statement was that they'd be competing again by 2020... I don't see it happening, not by a long shot. And I only post this because of how bad I got ridiculed. It's okay to love the team and also be critical.
  10. Kay's been terrible in AAA. His traditional numbers have been a little misleading with Buffalo, but he's had a 5.18xFIP. I expect that the guy's gonna get rocked in the big leagues.
  11. That's some interesting logic you have here. I think the Jays adding 2 other pieces in the trade says more about Luhnow's negotiating skills than it does the value of Fisher. From what I remember, Sanchez has always produced well in the pen and his velocity historically went up when he was used in a limited role. It's only when he's been put in the rotation that the old problems start popping up again. Of course, I could be wrong. I just find it dumb that the Jays didn't try him in the pen before giving up on him for such a marginal piece.
  12. Nah man, I was discussing the offense as a whole. I know you guys have had a measured response, but the talking heads across T.V. and radio have been overly sensational and have been ranting and raving over quite a small sample size. Bo and Vlad have no doubt looked awesome, but that leaves 7 other roster starting spots. I only bumped this thread after the bats looked cold because some of the responses were a little harsher than I anticipated.
  13. Sanchez is a valuable piece though, he's just being mishandled. You put him back in the bullpen and odds are he's gonna contribute.
  14. I wish we still had Pillar. Would be better watching him out there, as we didn't get anything worth of value for him anyways.
  15. Marco Gonzales manhandled these guys today... Case in point regarding my OP
  16. I'm really not understanding the hype behind Fisher
  17. Jesus man, terrible terrible throw
  18. haha that'll do, nice approach by Rowdy
  19. Biggio's gotta learn to protect in those 2 strike counts.
  20. I wasn't strictly talking about L.A... Case in point with Tanaka, Kickuchi and now Gonzales dominating em
  21. Gonzales is carvin' em up. Jays seem to have a lot of problems with the crafty finesse guys.
  22. I love watching the young kids come up and produce more than anyone, but I think the Toronto media was getting carried away regarding the offensive hype since Bo was called up. If you look at the pitchers they produced well against, it was against a lot of scrubs from the Royals, Orioles, Rangers, Mariners and some of the weaker pitchers from the Yanks and Rays... It's a good sign, yes, but the hype I've heard on the radio and Rogers Sportsnet has been a little much. For me, a big telling point would be how they fared against Dodgers pitching, and they looked over matched and had a hard time stringing together hits. Other players who understand the art of pitching like Tanaka and to a lesser extent Kikuchi also carved them up. Nobody said there wouldn't be bumps in the road, but it seems to me like Sportsnet has really gone into hype overdrive ever since the fan backlash from the Stroman trade
  23. Brutal that Taylor chanced it there with only 1 out, but then again, I suppose they could have just walked Beaty to pitch to Buehler
