  1. This is too bad. I loved watching him play when he was with the Rockies. Sadly, I don't think he's gonna be able to be a productive player anymore. There's just too many injuries that he's endured and had to overcome. It's a shame, but injuries are just a part of being an athlete. This really makes it all the more crucial that JD gets healthy and that Travis can stay on the field.
  2. A-Rod in the booth for ESPN on the SF/LA broadcast. He's actually quite personable on the air. I'm pleasantly surprised.
  3. Thanks man. I'll give that a try
  4. By the way, I don't agree with the tone of the thread. I think the new brass have been perfectly sensible in how they've gone about things. But as a fan there's always going to be a thing or 2 that you would've liked to have seen handled differently. It's just the way it goes.
  5. I would've liked to have seen Teoscar on the team too. He's already proven himself in the minor leagues, what more does the guy have to do in order to get a shot? I suppose the problem is is that the guy needs regular AB's and I guess the Jays brass aren't convinced that he can be productive in a starting role.
  6. Hey guys, I wonder if anyone knows of a good site with free streaming games? I'll probably pony up for MLB TV sooner than later, but I was wondering if there was any alternatives in the meantime.
  7. It feels like the Jays have certainly faced Tanaka enough. They seem to have trouble making adjustments and can't lay off of his low breaking stuff. I think the lineup is a little more balanced this year though so I hope they can knock him around a bit. I'm excited to watch Sanchez back, and what better challenge than to face the Yankees?! God, I'm happy baseball's back!
  8. That was a great showing from the Yankees. I absolutely love watching their approach at the plate. Happ was fantastic, but the Yankees are so great at working up the pitch count. Definitely a good strategy as the Jays pen isn't very deep. Definitely gonna enjoy watching Stanton this year. It's great for baseball that he's playing on a high profile team. Tough day for the Jays, but it was an unfavorable match up. Hopefully Sanchez throws a good game and the Jays can get at Tanaka tomorrow.
  9. I know eh? A little frustrating. A bunch of teams playing early games still haven't
  10. Damn... News just came in that the game in Detroit is postponed for anyone who had players in the game.
  11. Rasmus made the roster for the O's and is gonna start in RF on opening day. Could be a pretty sharp move by Baltimore. Rasmus looked great with the Rays last year before going awol. It'll be interesting to see how he fares.
  12. Excellently put. He has been a pleasant surprise. I initially didn't think he had the talent to be an everyday player, but he's had some really solid seasons.
  13. Really? Damn. And he still hasn't had it figured out? That sounds odd. So has he outright retired or is he going to try and work his way back in the league? I guess at 28 years old the clock is ticking out of favor for him.
  14. What do you folks make of Kevin Pillar? He's certainly a little overrated isn't he? His WAR has been on a pretty steady decline over the past 3 years and his defensive metrics seem to have taken a major hit last year. He's the kind of player that I don't think will age well into his 30's.
  15. Good call. My bad. I haven't really familiarized myself with the opening day roster yet. I suppose they're going with 4 outfielders? Not sure how I feel about a Grandy/Pearce/Pillar/Grichuk outfield. It certainly seems a little ordinary, on paper at least. I know Pillar is a fan favorite, but I'm not a very big fan of his bat to say the least. It feels a little strange what with opening day starting so early this year.
  16. Hey guys, big Jays fan here but I have a question that will probably make me look like a casual fan. I was wondering what ever happened to Brett Lawrie? I know he put up very ordinary numbers with Chicago in 2016, but is he really completely out of the game now? I would have imagined that some organization out there could have at least used him as a bench piece or at the worst gave him a shot in AAA. I was wondering if anyone knows what his plans are now. I reckon he made a nice chunk of change with his MLB time, but he doesn't seem like the kind of person to be good very good with money.
  17. It's easy to be clouded by Grandy's 211 AVG last year, but some of his advanced offensive stats are actually pretty good.
  18. That's true. I'm hoping Pearce can bounce back this year, but father time is unrelenting. I would have preferred Hernandez making the club. I think it he's earned it with his appearance late in the season last year and his fantastic spring-training. At least it's nice to have him waiting in the wings.
  19. I'd do without Granderson in the lineup against Severino. I don't know if he has the bat speed to keep up with that kind of heat anymore.
  20. True, but personality wise they're quite similar. I found the odd-couple chemistry between Jamie and Zaun to be quite entertaining. I would've imagined he'd be replaced with someone with a little more flair. Siddals quite smart though, so hopefully it'll be good.
  21. I don't mind Siddal, but I don't know if he's a good replacement for Zaun. Siddal's a little too much like Cambell in his hosting style, it's better if you get a bit of a contrast going on for the pre-game shows.
  22. They don't allow spring training games to go into extras. You really believe they'd end the special game in Montreal at 0-0? That would have been a gong show.
  23. Anyone else think they just served him up a meatball in order for the meaningless game to not end in a tie? Think of how ugly the fans would have got if they ended the game at 0-0. Since It's Vlad jr it would serve as a nice moment for the fans too. Unfortunately I'm not really buying the authenticity of that moment lol
  24. Hey guys, new member here too. I've been looking around for Jays forums and I'm surprised how little there are. It seems like Reddit has the biggest community but I'm not a fan of the layout of the site. I suppose message boards are sadly becoming a thing of the past. Anyhow, just thought I'd say hi!
