I enjoy the podcasts (I have listened to two so far). However, I think you guys are all of the exact same philosophy and are 100% analytics cult;) My contention is that while analytics and sabremetrics is very valuable, there are some old school intangibles/process that are not well measured, or measured three different ways by the main three.. (in other words, there is not even consensus among the big three on how to interpret some stats).
I think it would be cool and most importantly entertaining if you had a raucous debate, old school vs new school vs mix etc.
Basically a Ben Revere thread turned into a podcast. While some might have thought other posters were smoking crack, I think the group consensus was it is an entertaining thread.. You would probably have to have a guest on to debate the other side...
Use current players or examples Blue Jays fans are familiar with either past players or minors so that it is relevant to off-season, our minors, building a winning team. Differences in AA vs Shatkins etc.
When I have more time, I was going to make a chart of what players we have due to AA drafting or a player AA drafted/traded that we could used as currency for a current player vs Players acquired solely from the new regime.
Examples: Pannone from Joe Smith = 100% credit Shatkins
Danny Jansen= 100% AA
Reese McGuire was from Drew Hutchison, which was AA currency but turned into Reese by Shatkins.
Vlad, 110%% AA, and I don't think Shatkins could have got him to sign with the Jays.
I think/thought it would be interesting to see what part of next years potential roster is from which regime (if someone didn't already do it?)
