  1. Dude, with all due respect, Lawrie was NOT the centerpiece of the trade. Lawrie was a throw in Beane demanded because he needed someone to play 3rd. Nolin and Graveman were rather expendable because of Toronto's depth on the mound. The Blue Jays have R.A. Dickey, Stroman, Mark Buehrle, Hutchison and J.A. Happ in their projected rotation. Sanchez and Norris also are core pieces of the future, and that didn't leave much long-term growth for either pitcher headed to Oakland. Barreto is the top prospect in the deal going to Oakland. The 18-year-old was ranked the No. 2 prospect in the 2012 international free-agent class by MLB.com after experiencing a lot of success in Venezuela. He was recently named one of Toronto's Webster Award winners after hitting .311 with 33 extra-base hits and a .384 on-base percentage for low Class A Vancouver.
  2. Yea, because I have made posts like this everyday or not even 0000.1% of my 914 posts.. If you want to criticize this particular post fine, but get off your high horse with almost every post I make is like this. Total BS- Hyperbole much??
  3. Listen, if I violated any board rules then I apologize and will refrain from using such colorful language. Having said that I think everyone here knows full well there is No advocacy of rape or condoning of rape or belittling of what it is against the law and morally in this context. People use rape of resources etc in terminology, and this was used to describe a trade. Maybe it is my military background where we used colorful language on a daily bases. I will respect the board rules and consider my use of such language in the future. I really think some of people reporting this type of post are using this because they still think I am someone else or just trolling, They are probably the same people wanting to ban Baby it is Cold outside on the radio... If a poster cannot differentiate between the context I was using and a real life situation or can't tell the difference between using it in the context I did or advocating or lessening it, the I think the problem is on them not me.
  4. Translation= The A's traded JD for a possible back-up IF as the center piece... Not quite sure "WTF" is there to understand..??
  5. Marcus Seamen() has a 4.3 WAR, Barreto was supposed to slot at 2b, in 2019. With Profar, that mean Barrato is at most IF utility depth. They have Chapman at 3rd... Barreto will be 23 to start the 2019 season. If we had have one middle IF position we need to fill and Bichette on the way, we dont make this trade IMO. (We have two spots, so we might). My point being, if the A's liked Barreto like we like Bichette, they don't trade expend the asset capital to trade for Profar. The fact they did, means to me they don't think Baretto is anywhere like what you would think the centerpiece of a trade for a guy top 10 in WAR and MVP voting a bunch of years prior to the trade, should receive in return.
  6. All the A's beat assumed Franklin would get his shot in 2019 if they did not resign Lowrie. He is 23 and at AAA/AAAA. Maybe he will make the ML roster as a utility guy, but he will be 25/26 yrs old when Profar's contract expires. If Bean traded an MVP for a future back up IF, AAAA guy, as the center piece, that means IMO AA raped him.
  7. The Profar trade means the A's don't believe in Franklin Barreto going fwd.. Franklin was the biggest piece of the JD trade going to the A's. We won that trade hands down, short term and long term.
  8. This is the final part of the gigantic double headed dildo that AA stuck up Bean's ass in the JD trade. AA raped him so bad that Bean is still walking funny.
  9. Baseball Message boards: Where fans in their mom's basements who read Baseball Savant, FG and BP four times daily, really think they are baseball savants.
  10. Angles getting ripped on MLB radio for spending $20 Million for Cahill and Harvey... Former GMs saying they did stupid stuff like that, never works. Should have spent on quality vs quantity.. Spend $20 million on Dallas or Corbin, even Charlie Morton would have been better... Angles are pushing Trout away with these moves... To be fair, I think the Jays would have benefited from Harvey, or maybe even Cahill, but not both.. because they are right.. $20 million for meh..
  11. So another article on SN today by Shi about Montreal’s effort to get a team. https://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/inside-montreals-cautious-meticulous-attempt-bring-back-mlb/ They seem to think it is Montreal and Portland in competition. I was listening to MLB radio the other day and they had former players and Execs on having an informal ad hoc disvussikn on expansion or relocation. Montreal didnt even come up. Nashville, Las Vegas, Charlotte area, Portland.. These articles in Canada probably get traffic, but I really think it is false hope.
  12. Well, I guess it depends what your metrics are. Having a BA etc etc top rated farm system is great on paper and hence I am optimistic. Having collaboration and better this and that is great and I agree with a lot of what he said in what I also do for my team in the business world. However at the end of the day, the goal is to have sucess at the ML level. When I say sucess,I mean playoff sucess. We are not there yet. The Blue Jays teams of the 80’s and 90s won with those same s***** facilities in Dunedin. The 2013 Blue Jays were on paper picked to win the WS, they sucked when it actually came to playing games. The farm system is a paper ranking. A lot of the players used to bolster those numbers ae from the AA regime. They still have Jansen, Alford, SRF etc contributing to that ranking, and of course as you mentioned Vlad the baseball impaler. I admitted I am optimistic, but we have not yet achieved the on field results. Until such time, I am not going to give a guy a prize for draft rankings.
  13. Good interview. The second really good one I have heard by Mark. He is a good sales man and makes me optimistic. However, we will see when the rubber meets the road. So far it has been all talk and very little results.. We shall see..
  14. Let’s hope our gift in Steve Pierce to the Red Sox was as was Dolyle Alexander was to the Tigers. Did great for them getting to the playoffs, but the Braves got some unknown kid named John Smoltz..
  15. Not only am I not Statman, I have no clue who in the Wide wide World of Sports he is/was. Verdad!!
  16. Not to be nit picky.. But it is actually two persons. 3 am Spanky and business hours Spanky..
  17. I agree and think it would be a nice Christmas present for The Spankster and brighten him up during the Holidays. Now if only he would let me join the Wolfpack..
  18. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/the-blue-jays-need-to-get-more-pieces-around-vladimir-guerrero-jr-by-embracing-their-rebuild/amp/
  19. I would have gambled on the Dark Knight also. Did you see the Angels tried for Corbin and Happ.. So Harvey is like sloppy thirds..
  20. The playoffs really sunk his stock IMO... Or maybe just highlighted his issues..
  21. We have a full 2 yrs of control. Or, another team would have a a full two years. Trade deadline you have less teams interested, only a season and a quarter of control. Aaron or Stroman could get hurt again or say they aren't and just pitch like crap. I say get what you can now......
  22. I hope this is the calm before the storm and we will get some Jays news. Since Thursday it has been DEAD.. Not even any new rumors or updated content on MLB.com. This is like watching paint dry..
  23. You missed the point of my statement my friend. I wasnt talking specifically about Harper with that comment. . My statement is that it is sad that 25% is league average in this day and age. The comment was to modern day aceptance of a higher rate of Ks and what the overall league average is. I probably mumbled my points together but the reason I am down on Harper is the coasting on D, if true.
  24. Actually, If am being honest. It was from the night you were off your meds raging about the broadcasters and everything and anything in some playoff game.. Can't recall which series.
  25. What do you guys think about trying to get Jake Marisnick back from the Astros on the cheap now that they have Brantley... I think he would be a good fit for this team for the cost..
