This is more like the Kris Bryant & Jack Flaherty trade vs the Ohtani trade. In The KB & JF trade, I thought we were getting pick 1-1. When the trade went through, it was actually 1-3.
So, I would be like Boston and the other team would be like the Twinkies - Goods not as advertised.
In my case, after much back and forth the other team (Twinkies) had to add a piece to compensate for the difference in 1-1 & 1-3. However, the other team didn't really have anything, I wanted and of equal value to compensate. Therefore, they had to reach out to another team, trade for a piece and then offer it to me in compensation.
Much like real life, our deal was dependent on another deal with a third party going through. If one part failed, he whole house of cards came crashing down.
I suspect, like exactly in my situation, the Twinkies will have to pony up something else for the Red Sox.. However, probably in the back of the Red Sox mind is that they are not going to find another team to take on the Price and Betts contract and give them something decent..
Very interesting situation and waiting to see what happens... I think the Twins have more leverage than the Red Sox.. But the Sox are in the right to ask for more if damaged goods..
