  1. So I am watching MLB TV draft coverage. They just showed Meyer and his family. First, he looks small, even when he was flexing.. Two, the whole family is gingers. Do we really want to go down that road?? It will be like a Ginger invasion of Canada and Rogers Center on prospect day etc... Scary...
  2. If hockey has anything to do with this then the whole FO should be fired!!
  3. You know, that is a good question and might affect KCs mentality. Shrugs...
  4. Ask for Yelich, that is fair.
  5. The Carlos Danger Prediction Post: I think there will be a shock in 2020, in a year with COVID, riots and Murder Hornets, what else would you expect. Tigers will pick Martin at #1. This will really screw up the Orioles plan. I think the Orioles might want to go low slot in this case. Then Miami will be left with a BIG decision. That means Lacy 'might be available at 4.. What would KC do? I am hoping they go Lacy then the Jays swoop in and pick Veen. Of course I fantasize about various Youtube chicks and that hasn't come to fruition either.. We can always dream though Regardless, at the end of the day I want Veen!!!!
  6. This Draft Day Thread has been brought to you by Frijoles. Pizza, Burgers? No, the obvious choice on Draft Day is Frijoles.
  7. Up until about a month ago, Gonzalez was always in top 3-5 talk and Veen was no where in the top 5.
  8. Let's hope Baltimore gets crazy;) Thanks
  9. Ok, let me re-word the question. Is there any speculation/industry chatter, that Detroit will not pick Tork at #1.... The consensus at this point appears to be they will.
  10. Has Detroit publicly said they are taking Tork as #1? Any chance they take Martin and throw a wrench in the works? Martin seems more like their type of player..
  11. Ok, maybe I wasn't clear. As an example, on the MLB page, they have Meyer in the # 9 spot, Gonzalez at #5. Everyone here is saying they would be Ok and happy with us taking Meyer at #5. So my assertion is that he is not the fifth best player on the board by some standards if Gonzalez is still available.. If the FO views Gonzalez and Meyer equally, I am always taking a position player over a pitcher, all being equal. Hope that clear it up for you and probably my bad for not being clear in the first place.
  12. I think you are overthinking it. It would basically be Veen or Gonzalez (position players) *unless something unexpected happens, or a pitcher. I value both Veen and Gonzalez over pitchers. That simple... It is not like Gonzalez is projected for 10 etc and you are passing up a top 5 player. I am saying within top 5-6 I would prefer a position player this year.
  13. Not me to be honest. I want Veen so bad that I know I am just not going to be happy. (Unless Austin Martin falls to us in some miracle This years draft has a lot of good second round pitching depth. So, IMO, why even take a pitcher when there are really good position players available at #5 and deep pitching in later rounds. My take is, if we can't get Veen, which I don't think we can, take Gonzalez.. Or another position player depending on if something unexpected happens. To summarize, I think I will be bummed out tonight
  14. Using Atlanta as an example to show most revenues don't come from the gate is a total false flag. The reason the Braves used to be called America's team in the late 80's, 90's is because way before everyone had 400 channels on their TV, the Braves were being broadcast nationally on TBS. The Braves still have a huge national TV deal with TBS. Only two teams were frequently on Nationally back in the day. The Braves on TBS and the Cubs on WGN. You could get both networks on basic cable anywhere in the USA and on any cable provider. To put this in perspective, not even the Yankees or Red Sox had national networks. YES and NESN are/were only available locally. Now, if you pay for various premium sports packages or multi-channel packages, you can watch NESN or YES in Florida etc. However, that is was not like TBS and WGN. Even Rogers with their national broadcasts don't come near to the numbers of TBS and WGN viewers in general. Trying to use Atlanta as an example by the players is total BS!
  15. Fair enough...
  16. Not disagreeing with any of that... However, what does it have to do with his HR power which is the discussion point?
  17. I tend to agree with this...
  18. I comp Gonzalez to Nick Madrigal. Which is not bad... However, if you look at comps of the other players (non-pitchers)....
  19. The problem I have with Gonzalez is everyone recognizes his league/competition/home park etc, and then says well he did well in the Cape Cod League.. I remember the Cape Cod League being used before with a player we drafted or tried to and it didn't end up meaning much. Also, since this is real life and not Fantasy baseball, his defensive/position issues are a negative to me as opposed to a guy who can play CF etc like Veen.
  20. Understood, thanks, and agree with your proposal in the last line. Thanks!!
  21. Thanks for laying it out BTS. I understand and now agree with why no 26 man this season. Would still like to advocate for expansion to 15 MILB players prior to this year's draft. I apologize for my ignorance, can someone explain to me TCA's point about expansion of MILB guys now making the 2021 draft sucky? I am lost/or don't understand that? Is he talking about the waiver draft or MILB draft? Thanks!
  22. I hope he is our top target and I am very glad to hear that. Unfortunately, I think we will all get Blue Balls because I also agree he will go to the Royals.. However, if Baltimore decides to go under slot, that could work to our favor!! Go Baltimore, get wack!!
  23. In negotiating, be it a house, or whatever, you never show your hand and let the other side know you want something so much they can use that to their advantage.. From a business point of view, IF they are negotiating with a high school kid, I would DEF use the fact I can go a "proven" college kid route or any other comp that give me an advantage for equal dollars etc... Or to sum it up, I would def myself, and I can see why any smart business guy would leak or allow the perception that their is competition and they are willing to go elsewhere.
  24. I just don't see what the negative is to any player in the league if we expand the rosters a little early, if we were planning to do it anyway? It does not affect anyone's draft, draft position etc. I am not talking about timing of drafts or anything. I am just saying, if we are going to expand to 26/14 in 2021 why not do it now? If the season starts MLB will be at 26 man rosters, why should we be behind. This is all in the context that since there is no season, I have no idea if a team is planning to platoon some players, send them to MILB, where a guy is going to start the season. In normal situations, when you are cutting MLB players to free up space to move MILB players up, which has been suggested, you at least have an idea if a guy on your MLB roster is getting playing time, is a regular or platoon, was a September wonder and was sent down end of May. Yes, technically I can move a player from the MILB roster to MLB. However, my understanding is once there, you can't move back down? Also, MLB teams didn't even make final cuts prior to the COVID stop. I have no idea when I have to make MLB cuts to players I used capital to obtain or high waiver draft picks if they are even going to be on the MLB roster... This is all information I would have in a normal season. Again, not asking for anything that affects draft picks or draft timing. This move would benefit everyone equally, regardless of standings/draft pick position etc.. All we would be doing is bumping up something we plan on doing anyway, due to the COVID situation. 26/14... vs 25/12.... If I understand correctly.. Thanks
