  1. If Baltimore decides to go under slot, it could make the whole thing wack!! Let's hope!!
  2. Why does CBS believe the only thing close to a lock is the Jays taking a college player? Basically, they are saying that even if Veen falls to us, we will not select him? Where are they getting this?
  3. So here is some random information, but what the hell else is going on.... I was a frequent member of another board in 2010. The board consensus ( a whole lot of guys living in their mom's basement) was some guy named Chris Sale. Same as this board, we did mocks and discussed for months... Draft night came, it came to our pick, #11, C, Sale was still on the board, we were stoked, FOR SURE we were taking Chris Sale.... With the 11th pick of the 2010 MLB draft, the Toronto Blue Jays pick Deck McGuire.... .. WTF!!!!!!! mad emojis etc. That was a case where some random Blue Jay chat board was smarter then the Blue Jays FO. The # 1, (Harper), #2 (Taillion ) *when not hurt) #3 (Machado) and #5 (Pomeranz) picks worked out pretty well in that draft.. #4 not so much.. The best pick of the draft in retrospect/or right now (if there were a season) the #23 over all pick by the Marlins (Christian Yelich). Three (3) of those guys were High School picks, Muchado, Yelich and Taillion..
  4. Thanks for your quick response. My only concern is that depending when/if the MLB season starts, what the rules are on extra year/Super 2 etc... I have some concerns about my MILB roster space if kept the way it is.. Example, I have a number of players I was almost positive would be up on MLB rosters by May/June, thereby opening up spots on my MILB roster for drafted players. How will we address that issue with relation to what is going on in the real MLB situation? Would you be able to grant a MILB roster expansion exemption for this year due to the unknown situation? Thanks
  5. So, are we still planning our draft sometime shortly after July 15th?
  6. I just realized Austin Martin is from like 25-30 mins away from Zac Veen... Not too far from where Chipper Jones is from.
  7. Unfortunately I think we will be disappointed. I think KC will take Veen, or he won't get to us... I hope I am wrong..
  8. I thought you had banned me from exchanging/swapping anything with you? Or does that not include chicks & dudes?
  9. I like that in a man. Along with his broad shoulders and flowing brown locks..
  10. Like jizz all over your computer screen? Explode in glee, projectile diarrhea? How would you explode?
  11. So, I lived in Port Orange, FL for apprx 18 yrs, all my buddies graduated from Spruce Creek High. I have a lot of friends who's kids go there now or have just graduated. I sent a bunch of messages a while back trying to get the inside scoop on Zac. Is the dude a winner, attitude, his makeup, etc. Carlos Danger is convinced that the Blue Jays should target Zac Veen as their #1 choice. Unfortunately, I don't think he will make it to them. However, if he does, take him!! Now, that is for the Blue Jays. In my Fantasy leagues I have the #1 pick in one league and #3 in another. I tend to shy away from High School players in Fantasy. However, for the Blue Jays, DO IT if you can!!
  12. 50 games is not even two months! Total BS, they need at least a half season!
  13. A second wave that might not even come. If they are putting the measures they are proposing now, what difference will it make?
  14. Hate it! Totally changes the fabric of the game with relievers, SP, PH, PR, etc... Do it and do it right. 82 (9 inning plus Extra inning) games!!!
  15. What Boxy said. There are risks in the typical business model. If they were losing money because everyone of their $25 million a year players is on the DL or there are no fans in the seats because they have a s***** team or they decided to invest in a team in a city with a s***** fan base etc, their problem, agree 100%. However, this is an unprecedented pandemic. The GOVT is mandating restrictions that can not be accounted for in a normal business model. There ARE Force Majeure stipulations in the CBAm even if the word Force Majeure is not used specifically. You cannot (with any credibility anyway) make a blanket and frankly weak statement that the players have a contract so the owners have to pay no matter what. Remember, if players do things which can void a contract, like certain motorsports, criminal behaviour, social polices etc, the players contract can be voided, theye do not get their salary no matter what they do and happens, even if there was not a global pandemic. I am not saying the owners are in the right in this, nor am I saying the players. I am speaking specifically to this perception they have a contract and they should be paid their full amount no matter what argument.
  16. I don't agree with this. If teams and personnel associated are screened and proper social distancing is put in place, why would a young "athlete" get COVID or if they did, suffer from it, unless they are someone like Trey Mancini.. Maybe it is because I work in an essential industry, and since day 1 we have had thousands of people going to work in factories/refineries in some cases and we have not had any deaths or grave illness of any of our employees globally so far. Yes, we had some initially who got COVID-19, but no fatalities or life altering sickness. Why can our business and thousand of others continue, but baseball players cannot play baseball in an empty stadium with screened and limited personnel?? It is total BS and overstating, the risk to them IMO. Play ball!!
  17. Wow, extremely sad... I couldn't even imagine. A woman having a heart attack at 31 yrs old is extremely rare I think.. Poor guy/family..
  18. Negative Ghost Rider. He is a hitter and has hit his whole career. To the point Texas is trying him in CF and just about every position because they want to get his bat in the lineup. As I saw mentioned in a write up, he is criminally underrated. He got lost in the deep Tampa system. He is a gem and I will put money on it!
  19. They had their future 3b in Solak, he is one they let get away, for relievers?? Brian Anderson is the Marlins closest to untouchable player at the moment. They would want a big haul... Vidal and McLanahan might move the needle though.
  20. Your making a philosophical argument. I was posting legal opinion, I in no way claim to be mine. My initial post was to the point the Hot agent said there is a CBA, for baseball so that is that. Based on what I am reading, in contractual terms that is not accurate nor has it been established due to Covid and elements of the contract for which the situation applies.
  21. I say to her... Hey nowwwwwwwwww.. Are you dating anyone girl? As to her comments, she is a player's agent. She is of course not going to say anything to weaken her or her clients position. Same with Boras. What I posted is an opinion of a neutral (as far as I am aware) law firm, just commenting on the legal aspects.
  22. Just a note of corporate business communications policy, any business. Before my company puts out something to the pubic, it passes multiple levels of review to include Senior Legal VP, Senior Communication VP etc, etc. There is NO way a major and reputable law firm would allow anyone, associate, partner etc, publish anything on their official page with their letter head without it being reviewed by senior partners and the compliance team. The fact the author who is an associate, as opposed to a partner, does not mean anything as to his bona fides as far as the law goes. Also, unlike you, he is an actual attorney in the venue in question ref the MLBPA CBA. So, in other words, your point is 110% moot.
  23. I am from the South, calling me a Yankee is offensive!!
  24. It is the interpretation of a major law firm Matlock. I don't even need a law firm to understand that suspending the CBA means just that... It is a Collective bargaining agreement-- Compensation. Therefore, if it is suspended, ergo, you can suspend compensation that is dictated by such agreement. https://www.foley.com/en/insights/publications/2020/05/collective-bargaining-sports-covid19-mlb-salaries Also, note the CBA falls under US law as far as I know and Canadian Law might not be the same.
