  1. I think zero chance of Cleveland doing a 5 yr deal for a 30yr plus old CF. Zero..
  2. They still have an awesome pitching staff with help on the way. They still have the best 3B and the guys they received from the Mets will be solid. Plus, they might not be done. A lot of solid FAs out there they might be able to afford and not Lindor dollars..
  3. Dump em both and put in ACEucki!!
  4. I think I basically said the same thing you just said. What I also pointed out, that you just confirmed, is that the Jays are not going to get any discounts because of the market. If Houston and Toronto both offer $115, we need to go at least $125 to persuade him, and so on and so forth upwards. Springer won’t come to us for less then a $5 million difference after taxes..IMO.
  5. Stroman was never an option even if he was a FA. That relationship was damaged prior to the trade and yesterday was just more evidence of that.
  6. We supposedly have an advantage this offseason which we have never really had compared to other teams. Next, or trade deadline, if all goes back to normal or it looks like it will be and owners have confidence to spend, then we become another fish in the pond. Having said that, if we really think we can get some of the FA's next year, then I wouldn't want to handicap us with moves now. But def think longer we wait, more competition. So bird in the hand vs 2 in the bush?
  7. You realize, as mentioned previously by various posters. IF the patient approach causes prices to come down, the competition then increases with the pool we are swimming in expanding. The fact we will probably have to start the season in Buffalo and the whole cross border thing will be a consideration if anywhere close to even. Which probably doesn't mean any bargains for us..
  8. I agree he will probably debut mid to late 2021... Just questioning his impact for the 2021 season...
  9. How much impact do you think he would make? Pearson is elite and barely made a dent... SWR in the big picture is a mid ranked prospect.
  10. That farm doesn't have the pitching, so unless they use that farm to go out and get it, which they very well might, we are in the same spot.
  11. They need pitching, barring that they need to smash the s*** out of teams.. There not yet smashers to that extent and they don't have the pitching.
  12. The chattering class say the Jays were initially willing to go to $125.. or their forecast was $115 to $125.
  13. That front office will never build the team they should around their unbelievable core of young players…it’s a travesty! — Marcus Stroman (@STR0) January 7, 2021
  14. f*** off Stroman.
  15. They will then have guys like JD Davis etc to trade to Colorado for Arenado..
  16. Cubans like Miami French like wine Canadians like beer Mexicans like beans
  17. I really thought he was going to San Fran.. Not TO. If he does, same state wrong city.... Asians like California .
  18. I think he goes back to Japan.. Teams FOs leak like sieves and if nothing at this point..
  19. But we don't have to deal with Godzilla.... So there is that.
  20. I'm watching the Naked Gun on MLB TV.. What a great movie, laughing my ass off. Hot Stove comes up next
  21. There is no reason for that... Just play baseball Gdam it!!
  22. So since the FA season is so dead and not much else to talk about. I will go ahead and get someone fired up;) I heard an ex GM's comments this AM, or yesterday AM..? It is all a blur.. Anyway... His theory is the Blue Jays were estimating Springer to come in at $120-$125 max. They were/are fine with that and started talking with a lot of confidence in interviews etc. When the "supposed" number became $150 plus, the Jays were like s***... and it tempered their public "confidence" and strategy. Who knows.. But something to discuss.. LOL
