MLB radio has been saying the same thing all day. They preface by saying, no disrespect to Toronto, "but" they are being used by all these players. DJ, Springer, JTR. Don't know if that is actually true with last two until the music stops. However, it makes sense and sure seems like it.

The Raptors have nothing to do with anything. L54 stated he is curious what repercussions would be of nothing happening of significant this off season. I stated the fans/FO spin will be wait until next year's larger FA crop and nothing will happen. I used an example of fans still supporting the Leafs regardless. Raptors winning a Championship is moot to my point and the topic.

Toronto fans support the Leafs and mediocrity every year. The wait till next year cry will be heard and not a tear shed.

I have mentioned the same thing ref Springer. The Jays will need to beat other preferential teams by at least $5 million per year after taxes IMO. $4.5 million is only $2. something after taxes That amount of money and relative to the amount guys have made over their careers and will be making in the new contract, not enough to move the needle.

I would never assume that. The Martinez signing might be a pre-cursor to other moves where they move some salary etc. They also have Cano money to play with this year, so they could front load a contract or something like that..

I think fans thinking we might get Lindor, very realistic. Getting Springer.. def possibility but some things working against us. Bauer, mmm difficult to tell, but my gut tells me no. DJL, I never thought he would come here and those who did were living a pipe dream IMO. Guys like JBjr, Semien, Didi, much more realistic.

I agree with all that. Just wondering if deferring some taxes on a lump sum might end up equaling out, with smaller recurring payments.. I really don't know.. I always asked myself if I won the loto (which I only play once a year for stocking stuffers), would I want the lump sum or smaller one time lump sum and annual payments.

I agree with all this. However, after watching his video last night. It appears his brand is just an equally important part of the three main things. I am not sure how he will perceive Canada for his brand.. Thirty-six million fan base cheering for one team is a positive. But, not as much exposure as in the US... Not really sure...
