  1. Gillick started with the Jays in 76/77 when the Team started. He created from a crappy expansion team a near Dynasty over a 10 year period (83-93) in the sense that the Jays were for 10 straight years always in the hunt for a playoff spot or made the playoffs to include two WS long before there was ever a wild card and you had to win the division. There were also only two divisions. There was no AL central. There were two playoff spots available in each league and that was it. Masai with all due respect to him, has not shown the sustainability/longevity of Gillick yet. Masai also inherited a decent base in the sense that he could trade a DeMar DeRozan for Kawhi etc. Gillick built from absolute ground up and sustained it until he left in 94.
  2. Probably so he can afford a turkey. I just bought mine today and G'Dam compared to last year!! 2020- $28.80 USD 16lb Turkey - 2021 $55.20 USD for 16lb Turkey..
  3. Make a plan and stick to it. Block out noise positive or negative about your trades. Been there done that... You will look back in the future and there will be some good ones and bad ones that seemed for sure one way at the time, but did not turn out that way. Don't let chatter/the peanut gallery shape your game plan.
  4. Looking at this from a risk evaluation point of view. Pitchers are so finicky and can hurt easy. (I realize McCullers has a long IL history) and Witt Jr and Brennan Davis have not played one game in MLB.. Prospects are just that... It is very rare for an Acuna or Soto type.. You are giving up a lot for a lot of risk. You have huge upside, but also putting a lot of eggs in one basket of unknowns. I own Witt in a league, I have been and continue to build depth at SS because I don't want to put all my eggs in a rookie who might do s*** his first few months or have to get sent down and then come back up... I would maybe do that deal without Carlson, but I have the same mindset as L54. A known, plus a hell of a lot for two unknowns...
  5. To clarify, if I am NOT in the draft, I can reach out to someone in the draft and say I want to trade you X player or FYPD pick for pick # X in the dispersal draft and we can pick someone remaining at that slot, correct? Thanks
  6. Does Conorp jr still get $1000 USD from Big Daddy if he wins the league?
  7. Welp, I ended up trading Walker... First offer from the guy was Thomas for Walker, then it was Tyler O'Neil and Winder (SP/AZ) for Mahle and Walker. The final deal ended up being: I traded Walker and Cabrera (MIA/SP) for Tyler O'Neil and Muller (ATL/SP).
  8. Not taking into account time to MLB or position. In a Dynasty POINTs league, who do you like- Jordan Walker (STL) or Alek Thomas (AZ)? Thanks
  9. I think I have mentioned this story a number of times over the years here on this board. However, the spring or summer prior to Vernon Wells becoming a FA, he told me to my face with other players there, that there is NO way in hell he is coming back to TO. He was going to Texas!! He was at the time 110% serious. Well fast FWD and we backed up the Brinks truck and we were saddled with that s*** contract for many years until AA did one of his best Ninja moves and dumped it on LAA. I was almost certain Springer would not sign here, Connecticut guy, close to New York, etc, etc. We backed up the Brinks truck and here he is. My point being, Ray's desires, facial tells etc, don't mean anything at the end of the day IMO. It will all come down to one thing, $$$$$$$$$.
  10. I have been a HUGEEE Biggio fan since he was drafted.. However, he does not contribute to run prevention for us, his D is not Gold Glove, and he was sucking at the plate prior to injuries. As far as Moreno, you can't expect anything from a rookie, who has no AAA time. Especially to the level of replacing Semien. Even Vlad jr struggled first time up. Adel, Kelenic, Larnach, Duran, on and on didn't move the needle when they were called up at first and certainly did not provide replacement value for someone like Semien, not to mention Gold Glove D= Run prevention. On the pitching side, the list is long of sophomore slumps and guys like Pearson not making the impact we thought they would when they were in the minors. Regardless, our offense was great last season and will probably still be sufficient. We need to do better at run prevention. Bullpen, defense and be able to cover the loss of Ray.. I am also worried about Ryu, health and age...
  11. I agree... That is my point... The OP was talking about the pen.. To me that is the key... That is where we need to focus in addition to replacing our losses to FA (If that occurs, which I suspect it will on at least one one of the two if not both).
  12. I think this is the most pertinent post. We had a Cy Young winner and a Gold Glove 2b that offensively outperformed Seager (LAD) Correa, Story etc and we still did not make the playoffs. Even if you just replace Semien and Ray with equals (very hard to do) what else has changed from a team that didn't make the playoffs.
  13. Happens all the time, that is normally the number one source of finding people for leagues, friend or associate of friends etc. The check and balance on this is that all leagues have some sort of trade approval committee or Commissioner veto power. I am in one league where trades sit for 48 hrs and owners have a chance to object. You need a high % though to veto. Another league I am in there is a trade committee. You need approval of 2 or 3 (ICR) of the members of the trade committee. I believe most of the leagues with affiliation to this board are Commissioner veto only. The point is, if it appears your buddy is sending Acuna and Soto to you for Randall Grichuk, then the process is there to veto that trade if it looks like collusion etc.
  14. You had me at trade Grichuk for an RP.. or maybe you did really mean a BP pitcher. Regardless, I didn’t see much else after that. I do know you are now one of my favorite posters
  15. However, I have not declined it yet either... So depends if you are a glass half full type of guy how you see it...
  16. I did Grisham for Rogers... Risky both sides.. We shall see..
  17. I don’t know any of the candidates more then one or two posts via this board or any other medium. My only input is I would rather have someone who will be, and stays active vs just filling the spot with a warm body who won’t give much attention.
  18. BTS gave me Webb in 2019 for a 6th round pick
  19. Which one are you receiving? I assume Ruiz since I seem to recall you were looking for a catcher?
  20. Well now you know. You are in the same league;)
  21. Who would you take for an SP- H2H Dynasty. Pablo Lopez, Trevor Rogers, Frankie Montas? I would have chosen Lopez right off the bat, except for I am concerned about his rotator cuff.. Montas had a crap first half, great second half. Rogers was going great until his personal life/issues. I am leaning Rogers, but could use some feedback.. Thanks!
  22. I have some excess 1b. Still looking for a SS/2b depth piece. Mancini, Cron, Voit, P Smith. Don’t plan to Move France. Thanks
  23. Looking to trade some depth at CF for some depth at SS/2b. Open to other ideas also... Thanks
  24. It runs deeper than the "issue" with Grichuk. Regardless if they trade Grichuk, as long as Atkins, Shapiro and maybe even Montoyo are there, I think there is a snowball chance in hell Stroman comes back. IMO that is a good thing, I don't want him back and I don't think he is a good fit for the current team, attitude etc.
