    Not to mention Ohtani as well. Last offseason saw the likes of Chapman and Bellinger lingering on the market as spring training approached vs the likes of Santander and Alonso. I don't know if Atkins was particularly interested in Bellinger but it was apparent that Chapman was a top target all along.

    Who says I was even specifically talking about the Blue Jays front office? MLB as a whole has stopped paying top dollars to one dimensional sluggers in recent offseasons, and this has even extended to the Cohen led Mets.

    I'd wager that MLB front offices that are paid to build teams know more about the value of defensively limited sluggers than you do.

    I think Giminez is potentially a better short stop defender than Kim but we don't have a lot of innings at the position to get a proper gauge. I believe a year at second base would potentially be a good thing for Kim as he works on rebuilding his throwing strength after shoulder surgery.

    Well Santander is basically paid like Morales was so if the deal goes south in later years it shouldn't be the end of the world.

    They added a switch hitting 30+ home run corner bar for a similar AAV to Lourdes Gurriel Jr. It's a great deal that adds much needed thump to the lineup and has a clever structure that limits the potential downsides to a massive degree.

    Yeah he legit freaked out on Brownie for simply using the thumbs down button for his posts. I think that guy must have failed kindergarten or something as he doesn't seem to be able to coexist with other people very well. On a semi related note I think kindergarten was the very best times of my educational experience as we got to have a nap each day immediately followed by toy playing time. That was living the good life, and my retirement will likely follow suit with daily naps and video games.

I don't expect anything but crickets from that dude at this point. I think this nitwit has each of us on his ignore list so he's basically doing this right now:

    That's exactly what Vlad did for the last 5 months of the season after the poor start for the first 4 weeks.

    I expect the potential Alonso deal is going to be structured similarly to Green and Santander in that both the team and player are going to have a lot of flexibility in how the future plays out. I would be surprised if the contract doesn't have ways for the contract to be morphed into a longer term deal at a higher AAV if Alonso bounces back at the plate.

    If Alonso ends up going back to the Mets I'd like the Jays to immediately pivot to Profar and get a deal done.

    Both of these guys have awfully similar projections so it's basically a pick your poison scenario as I fully expect each of them to be pretty bad. Heineman at least appears to be a solid defender behind the plate so he has that going for him.
