I wonder if these "rehab contracts" becoming more common, would give some (good) relievers more comfort taking the biggest one year deal on the table, rather than feeling like they need the security of the biggest guarantee offered. Can sort of gamble on yourself on a year to year basis and know there's still money out there if you get hurt. Leclerc for example, can make more if he keeps signing one year contracts at 10M, than one would assume he'd get from any multi year deal. But if he gets hurt this year, someone would still give him a Chad Green contract.

The projections appear to be in the range of 5.5-8M per, so this seems like an overpay on the surface. In the least it's a gamble based on track record more than current projections -

Twas me. If someone would take Bassitt's full salary (or close to it), we should be able to land Flaherty for similar money, seems like quite a coup. Somehow this rotation: Sasaki/Flaherty/Gausman/Berrios/Francis...would barely cost more than we are on the hook for with Gausman/Berrios/Bassitt/Francis/Yariel. That seems like the way to go about improving a ballclub
