    Even if they think they can get a discount on their annual balance sheet by offering an extra year or two - just a bad move. There are way more sensible options whether it be other 1B's or sticking with the one they have.

    One interesting wild card in the Nationals’ attempts to keep Bryce Harper beyond 2018 could be his older brother Bryan Harper, MASNSports.com’s Byron Kerr writes. The elder Harper, who just turned 28, is a left-handed reliever who posted strong numbers in 2015-16 for Washington’s Double-A and Triple-A affiliates, with good splits against left-handed batters. The southpaw is preparing to return to the mound after undergoing Tommy John surgery in October 2016, and there’s at least a chance he could join his younger brother on the Nats roster this season.

    I'd say Vlad is the only prospect who should be unavailable in a deal for a player of Yelich's value. I wouldn't want to see us move Bo for any sort of short term option but for Yelich it's a no brainer.

    Stro comes with four years of team control vs just two for Cole...whatever the Pirates are getting, it would/should take a lot more to pry Stro away.

    Pretty enviable SP depth they've built. Not spectacular in quality but easily strong enough to prop up their lineup.

    Life can change quickly, and so can my mind! Once I had a good look I wasn't so keen on taking the time to rebuild. I have some good prime age pieces and could luck my way into a good move or two.

    I'd want one of those top position prospects, + Sixto and more, to even consider letting them pry Stroman away.
