  1. Not on the 40 man though. Barnes, Mayza and Ramirez (who all arguably should be up anyway if they didn’t have options) are the main candidates for a call up.
  2. They could have replaced Pompey with an arm now instead of Urshela and Diaz should be back next week. Hey ho it’s not a big deal, just thought it was an odd move.
  3. I don’t really get Urshela being called up to give Gurriel a game off when Urena is already up.
  4. He hit cleanup again (and went 1 for 4).
  5. Our bullpen has been a strength this year. Apart from JD, IMO we’d get most value from trading rental relievers - getting another Hernandez type deal would be sweet.
  6. Biagini and Gaviglio have both been called up.
  7. That's bollocks, but this and the Around Baseball thread are specifically for more than just Jays discussion.
  8. Mayza also optioned with Biagini and Gaviglio called up - one of them is going to be a long reliever I suppose.
  9. I'm no lawyer but I doubt he'd get over a year if his defence was it was an argument that got out of hand - plus he was only charged with assault not assault causing bodily harm. But we're getting way ahead of ourselves here!
  10. Yeah it'd have to be seriously bad - like going to prison for multiple years - for his MLB career to over completely. IF it's as bad as the rumours then his Jays career is over, but someone else would still give him a shot. There is still a chance than it's nowhere near as bad as the rumours and we may see him again.
  11. Wow that's a brave move. Have to assume big roster changes are going to happen now too.
  12. Kluber is 32 and is arguably not even the best AL pitcher now anyway (though obviously he's still elite). IMO with a season or 2 of acclimatising behind him, Ohtani will be unhittable.
  13. FWIW he keeps saying he'd like to bat more, but then he's already missed one start because of a sprained ankle running the bases. I think this season he'll be eventually be used at least as a pinch hitter the day before a start. As good as he's been with the bat, if he puts it all together and settles in, he's going to be the best pitcher in the AL. Basically, Spanky is right - Ohtani is good at baseball!
  14. You expect a Blue Jays message board to ignore a story this big? Something that at the minimum is going to stop our elite closer from appearing until June?
  15. Well the article says it’s from “a source with intimate knowledge of Osuna’s arrest”, so if he’s not bullshitting you’d assume it’s someone who works at the police station (cop or civilian 911 operator), or someone who was there (the concierge who called it in?). He could just be making it up, if not we’ll likely find out more details soon.
  16. At this point even if it turns out it was something like an argument that got of of hand on both sides, and no criminal charges stick, all it takes is a leaked photo of the woman's "significant" injuries (e.g. with a black eye) and his Toronto career is done. If it's worse than that and he's beaten her up then we might not even be able to trade him.
  17. Again we have no idea what happened yet, your hypothetical scenario is one of many that could have taken place.
