  1. 9 home games in a row coming up after today - I think (hope!) you're right.
  2. Knicks starting 4 rookies vs raptors EDIT: late change to the lineup - Justin Holiday starts meaning only 3 rookies.
  3. It's a nice story, he adjusts his mechanics and makes it to the show at 29. He likely has to hit the ground running, may not get another chance.
  4. Correa, but I'd be happy to let you pick first and I'd take the other one. As HERPDERP says, Seager also has the same value. I'd also throw Trea Turner into the conversation, he's obv a year behind the others but in my eyes he's a potential MVP candidate now he's at his natural shortstop position.
  5. You mean someone killed the original poster and took over their account/life? That would explain a lot for certain posters......
  6. I actually meant Governator: but it doesn't really make a difference to the average either way.
  7. Yeah and plus it's not like the Cubs situation is easily replicated. Not every draft has a Kris Bryant available as the 2nd pick, not every former prospect that is obtained from a team that gives up on the player turns into Arrieta, and not every team can justify giving a 6 year $155m contract to a proven 30 year old frontline starter like Lackey.
  8. Total votes so far = 51 (excluding the vote for 161, but including the person who voted twice) Average = 89 Median = 88 Highest = 101 Lowest = 82 Looks like the board hive mind has decided that the Jays are likely a wildcard team this year. I'd take that.
  9. That's surprising. Hoffman didn't make the rotation either, he'll start at AAA.
  10. Osuna on DL Cervical spasm i.e. something wrong with his neck
  11. We don't need to nominate a replacement closer IMO, use the right guy for the right situation. Grilli, Smith and Howell prob start the season being used in high leverage situations.
  12. Smoak is going to start at 1B with Pearce at LF I assume. By late May, Pearce will hopefully be at 1B and we'll have a new LF while Smoak is waived.
  13. I totally agree with you - but it seems the front office doesn't.
  14. They must think they'd need the extra infield cover to buy time to work out a trade if both Tulo and Travis were out for any length of time. Something similar happens to Bautista/Pillar and they must be more comfortable with minors depths like Coghlan and Ceciliani.
  15. I fully expected Upton to make it over Goins, but I suppose the front office is worried that both Tulo and Travis are injury risks and wanted the extra infield cover. Barney and Goins could both play a bit of LF I guess too.
  16. Turns out Goins is an MLB player after all!
  17. They're also using Christian Bethancourt as a reliever and part time catcher.
  18. Whoever gets put on waivers probably gets claimed. Goins' defence and positional flexibility is useful for a reserve infielder and late game defensive replacement (especially in the NL). Upton is only paid $1million, is an OK 4th outfielder and could feasibly play well enough to have trade value at the deadline. Both are very cheap, virtually risk free claims for any team looking to add to their bench.
  19. There's too many variables to say with any certainty. If Bautista has a relatively injury free year, if the bullpen is at least OK, and if none of the starting pitchers miss more than a month or so, then I say yes this team is a bit better than last year. Pearce (hopefully at 1B full time), and Liriano over Dickey are the two main improvements. The loss of EE can be offset by Morales and a bounce back year from Bautista. Saying all that, I predict 88 wins (one less than last year). Main reason is that we very very lucky with starting pitching health last year.
  20. Yeah I was advocating Floyd over Bolsinger earlier in Spring but like you have heard nothing about him. Injured again I guess?
  21. Assume we offered a similar deal to Pagan and that he's trying to get a better deal elsewhere. His self imposed 48 hour deadline is well over by now.
  22. If Smoak starts the season badly and it results in Pearce being the full time 1B - then this is Smoak's replacement right here. Makes no sense to have Smoak as a bench player because he can only play 1B. The front office can give Smoak a month or two as a last chance.
  23. I'm hoping this is the year the Orioles finally bust when their pitching implodes, and we can forget about them entirely for a few years.
