  1. Halladay is talking about when the culprit actually started taking steroids. When you decide you need to take steroids and act on it you're over, plain and simple. Second who knows how long he was actually taking roids. His JAWS is completely compromised. To get into the hall of fame you need a long and storied career. When most of it can be called into question sorry bud it's up to our conscience. As well doesn't the hall of fame say you have to have strong character and pretty much be a role model or along the lines of that? The Committee has to change that and give Ty Cobb a VIP room before any of this happens,
  2. CC is fetching nothing sorry to say.
  3. There were reports that Mike Ilitch wanted to go for it while he was still alive (so pretty much this year). There were reports that the Tigers were looking for another OF/superstar. Al Avila said he wasn't looking for more high priced free agents. If he was he wouldn't confirm anyways. Not a total surprise as far as I am concerned
  4. Now that we traded Revere I kind of wished we signed Gentry or Nava. Both signed dirt cheap and can provide some of what Revere took with him. Don't think Junior Lake will cut it and don't get me started on Carerra.
  5. Apparently the Astros are hot on his trail. Imagine facing that rotation in the playoffs. Keuchel, Gallardo, McCullers and McHugh. Keuchels an ace, Gallardo is a jays killer and we all know how good MnM can be.
  6. Shapiro: He's Crap Arbitrator: He won the MVP for god sakes Shapiro: I stand by my comment
  7. I kind of want to put Dickey on a Gibbons-like contract.
  8. Besides Gallardo. Most aren't too wild about the guy anyways.
  9. I'm still iffy on the Chavez trade. We could have kept Hendriks and sign a guy like Carlos Villanueva (for dirt cheap mind you). We all know how much reliable bullpen help cost now and Hendriks would have eased the blow of Cecil leaving next season.
  10. It's slim pickin's now. Even if Shapiro decides to acquire another SP if will probably be a reclamation project on a cheap 1 yr deal like Latos or Fister. Which unfortunately won't help us out next year or beyond.
  11. It's in the dictionary so technically it's a word. The prefix is redundant but it has a certain rhythm to it.
  12. The arbitrator comes up with their own evaluation of a players worth without any outside influences irregardless of figures requested,
  13. He will probably be looking for a starting job and that depends on your definition of cheap. He might get $3m+.
  14. The final payroll seems like it will be ~$140m. If you believe the $145m self imposed cap that leaves $5m. One would have to assume that some of that will be going to a legitimate Backup catcher.
  15. He signed with The Friars.
  16. 'Tis but a scratch
  17. Shapiro pretty much flat out said there's a question whether the Jays have enough resources to complete such a transaction. Meaning there's not enough cash in the piggy bank. That means no Gallardo, Chris Davis, Cespedes, Upton etc. So everyone should stop even entertaining such notions. Position player wise there's no way anything of significance happens. Our 'challenges' as Shapiro puts it is pitching and there is no reason to not take him for his word when he says finding pitching depth (presumably low cost) is the primary focus. Look out for the Jays to explore contracts with the likes of Fister, Latos, Cliff Lee, Rodney, Stammen, Webb, Joe Nathan, Blanton etc. There also always the possibility of the trade route especially for a backup catcher.
  18. I like this trade but I'm pretty sure Storen broke his hand at the end of last year. Also he faultered in the second half. In a game that asks 'what have you done for me lately' this might be something to keep an eye on.
  19. The problem with everyone bringing up the Royals Rotation for validation is it's shortsighted. You need to emulate them exactly to be successful. You need a dynamic Bullpen. You need the insanely athletic defense and speed they possess. That stuff isn't child's play. Also all that it indicates is that you 'can' succeed that way, not that you are likely too. There is an argument to be made that you can increase your odds of being successful using other methodologies. Also KC built their team around their ballpark. Nobody else plays 81 games in Kaufmann. Just things to consider before accepting this as 100% Gospel.
  20. I think I got this thing solved. http://www.jenlyfavors.com/images/products/detail/DryGreenFoamBlock1Piece.1.jpg
  21. Sale has team friendly options until 2019. So he won't be available for any other team until 2020. I think Kimbrel might be signed long term as well.
  22. If the Cubs make a Ross/Salazar type trade maybe the Jays can make a low cost trade for Hammel or Hendricks. It unlikely though, they will probably use one of them as a long man in the bullpen on stand by for injuries kind of like what we are trying to do with Chavez (if we can find another starter).
  23. I can totally see the Cardinals and Astros being deep into conversation with him. Astros might not want to go with Singleton at 1B next season.
  24. No offense but most of the stuff that passes for humor on this board is lame and or bad this one included. However at least this one took some thought.
