  1. Dumbroski was at the helm then.
  2. Price is going to SF IMO
  3. If Happ has a 3.80 ERA I will be happy
  4. Everyone knows he had a good career before 'supposedly' taking steroids but as soon as you do take steroids your legacy and credibility is tarnish. Don't see why that's lost on some. Plus we don't know exactly when he started juicing.
  5. First day of ST BB: The first rule of hitting is take steroids
  6. I think most are saying to Non Tender Saunders and sign him back cheap like $1m and change. Plus I think I remember reading that it was a partial removal of his meniscus if I'm correct. That surgery has come a long way and athletes can still perform after it. It would almost definitely shorten the span of his playing career but not necessarily immediately.
  7. Exactly. We can boil it down to this $36m vs $110m
  8. Next year`s free agent pitching class seems weak. This years is very rich in pitching and the closest I`ve seen supply meet demand in a while. I`m pretty sure this will result in the dispersion and dilution of the amount of competition any player of interest on the free agent market or trade block will recieve. This should ultimately drive down prices as opposed to next year and increase the likelihood of attaining a quality piece since there is a saturation of options. Dickey and Chavez (not that I want Chavez anywhere near the rotation) will be gone next year without realistic expectations of being extended or resigned. That leave two gaps and voids in the rotation with a paltry `17 free agent class to replenish from. I feel we need to sign/trade for another quality pitcher while we have a great opportunity to do so and to cement the foreseeable future in the rotation. We're also on the winning curve and have a real shot at winning the title if we do. On the plus side we can skip Dickey in the rotation during the playoffs if we grab another quality arm.
  9. Perfect amount to spend on Cashner after we trade for him.
  10. Trade Revere for a bullpen piece, sign another bullpen piece and spend the remaining $6m on Chris Young if he would have us of course.
  11. Time to trade for Puig. Rogers can offer unlimited Roam Like Home to the Dodgers front office
  12. Cue the follow up Chris Young signing. If he would have us of course.
  13. Thats actually a pleasent surprise. I had the payroll marked at $135m after this signing.
  14. You can put all your effort into drafting, have the sharpest most astute scouts in baseball and still only end up fielding above average teams that were always the underdogs and never really were considered championship caliber. We may end up developing plenty of good players but never all in the same window. We actually have a legitimate shot to be the favourites to win the Pennant. We are pot committed. You dont know when we will get another shot like this. It is really hard to accomplish, it may end up being another 22 years. ` Plus the Phillies are retarded. You can put together talented teams without going to that level of insanity. There will be some sacrifice though.
  15. No offense but this is a type of deal I feel Ricciardi would have made. Nothing special about it. Shapiro still has a lot to prove.
  16. Pretty sure Joey has a life time supply at Pizza Pizza for his corporate schilling.
  17. It's true. What a team is paying for when it comes to O'Day is certainty and peace of mind. A lot of effective relievers have off years. Its to fickle and volatile. Very few relievers ever become 'elite' and that's what a contending team needs, not a hail-mary shot with an unproven. Having said all that 9 million per year is too much even for that.
  18. Instead of testing the market Anderson and Wieters should get tested after Rasmus sloppy seconds.
  19. Are you willing to roll the dice in a go-for-it championship season? Maybe if we can put the pitcher in the minors and groom him there. Second the Lind deal was unique in its own right. Milwaukee wanted a major leauge resdy player plus they were searching and desperate for a 1B for while before they landed Lind.
  20. That would still be a last case scenario type of decision as well. I'd be fine with that if we have exhausted all other options. I think he will be more of a strength acting as our depth. Every championship team has good starting pitching depth and he will be ours. Theres bound to be a couple short trips to the DL or spot starts for Hutchinson to prove himself and see if he can stick. I think he needs time to work on it and show that hes ready in the minors before we give him another shot. If we plug him in the rotation and he is disastrous again there will be no turning back. Don't want to take that chance if we don;t have to
  21. With the recent Estrada contract in addition to the other contracts and the projected arbitration values. The jays have ~118 million committed for next year. So if the payroll stays the same the Jays have 22 million left to spend The Jays still need to get 2 starters, 2 bullpen pieces, 1 backup catcher and 1 backup MIF. Hutchinson should be earmarked as our depth not the starting rotation. Loup can be the LHP piece fo the bullpen that we need but that should be a last case scenario. Maybe trade Revere for a bullpen piece. Plug in Pompey. Use the extra 6 million on Chris Young?
  22. Kaz had 2nd half meltdowns the last two seasons. That doesn't bode well in the playoffs which is when stuff starts to matter. That's the main goal.
  23. The guy is getting his physical done most likely. It can be a lenghty process. Everyone should stop hitting the panic button.
  24. As a reliever last year Sanchez had a FIP of 3.13 in 26.1 IP. Small sample size but he also had an awesome FIP in 2014 as well. I think he'll be a great reliever so if they leave him there for next year I'm fine with it. If they decide that he should be a starter next year he needs to develop consistent control.
