SRF will probably end up being a decent reliever. No real reason to rush that decision until our younger starters are ready.

Also excited about Joey Murray. He’s pitching at the top of the zone and his Ball keeps going up and up. You love to see those strikeout numbers for guys that don’t rely on stuff. Impressive season from him. Would like to picture him in the rotation in the future.

The great thing about SWR is he’s already going to have a 100 inning season under his belt at 18. He’s already in great position to be built up. If he performs he should move quickly despite his age. Will open next season in Dunedin but could very well be in New Hampshire by mid season at 19.

I wouldn’t mind bringing Smoak back on a minor league contract but we can do that regardless if he’s released now or not. The reason you release him now is to give him the chance to sign with a playoff bound team and free up bats for young players. I would also like to think we can do better than Smoak next year. The free agent market is always flush with 1B/DH types that don’t get multi year contracts. Would like to just bring in someone like Moose who could play 3B a few times a week while Vladdy DH’s and just play 1B and even 2B in a pinch.

I don’t know why the Blue Jays would want that. He can only play 1B/DH. If the Blue Jays are going to run a full season with a short bench you need versatile players that can play multiple positions. Galvis covered the infield and cold also play in LF in an emergency situation. Hell I believe he’s started a game at CF in his career as well. I would rather they look to upgrade 1B. With a better player peroid or someone young that can project at the position for the foreseeable future. Smoak has been atrocious in the second half. Last night was the first time he did anything productive in nearly a month. Would like to move on from him sooner rather than later. Give those AB’s to Tellez.

It was pretty telling when they gave him absolutely no shot at Shortstop after his second base struggles. I doubt we ever see him the infield again unless its an emergency.

I really hope one day we morph into one those organizations that values talent and quality over warm bodies in the future. Both Urena and McKinney can be replaced anytime with waiver wire fodder.

Smoak should not play after August 31st you could make the case he shouldn’t be playing right now. Maybe they are waiting for after players weekend or something. But his current presence is weird.

I kind of want to like Drury and want him to work out. But you could make the case that not rostering McKinney, Urena, or Drury going forward would be a good idea. The first 2 should have been the ones leaving for free over Galvis.

Sure if they want to suck again next season just put Urena on the bench. Would be nice knowing when we rest a regular we have someone somewhat capable to replace them in that game. Houston has a lot of that. It looks fun.

Maybe Shatkins can find another Freddy Galvis in the off-season. It would be nice to go into a season with useful bench players for once. This year we started with Maile, McKinney, and Urena. God I would hope we can do better than that next year.

He probably shouldn’t have agreed to a team option if that’s the case. We needed some value out of that option. Doing guys favours doesn’t make the Blue Jays better. Unless he was complaining behind the scenes.

I question if Urena is good enough to play in AAA let alone the majors. I really hope hes not a utility man next season he can’t hit and his glove isn’t good enough to make up for his inability to get the ball out of the infield. Galvis would have been a really nice utility player.

I don’t understand why Galvis couldn’t have played second base with Biggio getting starts at 2B, 1B, LF, RF. Montoyo would awkwardly rotate Bo and Galvis at DH and SS while continuing to play Smoak at 1B when he could have DH’d or just been out of the lineup. Really Smoak needs to be punted to the sun at this point. I would rather Tellez get at-bats and Tellez sucks.

I mean it makes a s*** load of sense for him to be gone I’m just absolutely shocked we couldn’t get atleast a lottery ticket for him at the deadline. Hopefully someone claims Smoak as well. Galvis staying made some semblance of sense with his team friendly option. Smoak doesn’t. Clear up those AB’s please.
