  1. I wasn’t complaining? Indians got major league players they could put in their lineup right away. Grenkie had a massive contract and is 35. I don’t look at them as all that comparable. All 3 franchises in different situations. SWR might ultimately be the best player in that group but hes also the furthest away. And I thought the Jays could have squeezed out more value out of the Mets. For the Blue Jays whatever scenario got us the highest upside prospect would have always been my preferred return. Will see if thatÂ’s the case.
  2. I thought both the Indians and Dbacks did well. Cleveland could have got better prospect capital but they clearly prioritized big league talent to bolster the roster and stay competitive. Considering a lot of people felt the Grenkie contract was unmovable at one point they got a nice return and ate less money than I thought they would. All in all that Grenkie signing was very successful for Arizona. Which is crazy to think they got a front line starter and we’re ending up able to flip him at 35 for high end prospects.
  3. Galvis at second base is unfair.
  4. Hopefully Grichuk finishes the year strong. Starting to get hot.
  5. He will definitely be a top 100 guy by next season. The return was light but this kid looks like a beast.
  6. Nah its not even like that just like some of the other OF options better. His presence is annoying to me.
  7. Fisher’s swing is ugly AF. Weird hitch in it as well. I’m not going to cry about that trade anymore. But I don’t want to see him in the lineup everyday because of that trade either.
  8. Getting Smoak at-bats this point seems absolutely pointless. They should waive him and see if he can catch on with a contender as a bench bat.
  9. Drury looks way better. Another great at-bat but got absolutely f***ed by the ump. I’m still intrigued by Drury. I wasn’t at first but with his versatility hes an interesting guy in a super utility role.
  10. Hes got a 6 week audition as a starter and see if you can fix him. If not non tender. I liked him in the past... obviously great name but his stuff fell of a cliff and so did he. I don’t know if he’s injured or mechanics.
  11. f*** Montoyo for putting Vlad on the bench. Finally had an afternoon game off. God damnit.
  12. Outside of Montreal this is probably the first time Bo has played on turf. His actions look good though. Obviously the errors suck to see but he doesn't like a butcher at SS or anything.
  13. I’m sure they will try with both but I doubt will see any kind of sweetheart deal. Or a deal that will really save the Blue Jays that much money long term. I don’t see any upside in resigning Smoak. He’s already regressed fairy significantly. Hes been pretty miserable of late and would rather see some younger players get at-bats at first base. Tellez is most likely nothing but he is someone fully capable of playing that position with guys like Biggio, McKinney, and Drury getting time there as well.
  14. If someone took Grichuk for free I honestly wouldn’t be upset. I have serious doubts he will ever build up enough value to be a positive asset again. Its still baffling they picked him of all people to extend. Power is intriguing but we have guys who hit homeruns. His defence is good but hes not exceptional. He doesn’t get on base, and he strikes out a ton. Not really a guy you want to be a core player for you.
  15. Which I honestly don’t like. You’re now eliminating the chance of non contending clubs to get an asset for a veteran player that late into the season now. August 15th trade deadline makes more sense. Smoak for example is probably just going to get released and they will bring up Tellez to get his at-bats. Still can’t believe they couldn’t find a single taker for him. Either the Blue Jays didn’t want to eat his entire salary in a deal or they wanted him around as a veteran presence for a little longer.
  16. Yes next season expect more short term veteran free agent signings with the intention to be sold off. I would be shocked if the Blue Jays spent any significant money for multiple years. Perhaps with the amount of money off the books they will look to be creative by taking salary from teams in exchange for decent young prospects. I would not expect Giles or Galvis to be traded before the season. It would depend on the return though. If a team legitimately wants to start Galvis at SS everyday maybe. Might see some more David Phelps type contracts trying to squeeze out some control without risk. Blue Jays front office really likes team options as they should.
  17. Yea that’s your fear with trading with a team like Rays. They just have much smarter front office that’s seemingly ahead of the curve in a lot of areas despite limited resources. The good thing is getting anything useful for Sogard is a plus. Spring invite success stories are always fun.
  18. Ho Man! Lourdes Have Mercy
  19. Buddy Boshers who I didn’t know existed before tonight really sucks.
  20. Yea he was clearly out on those replays. Caught plenty of jersey before his foot touched home. Really bad slide. Bo can learn from that one
  21. He looks out
  22. Honestly he could easily have 2 homers tonight.
  23. Happy for Sanchez. Really hope the Astros can turn around his career. Hes a good dude.
  24. Honestly Pannone looks like a guy that can have a successful career as a swingman. Doesn’t profile as a back of the bullpen reliever because he doesn’t have the power. Isn’t quite a starter but is a guy who could spot start and be good in multi inning stints. That breaking ball will play in a variety roles if he commands his fastball for sure.
  25. Nobody should be worried about wins and losses. Let Vladdy make mistakes. He needs to be given every chance to play a position. And he will be. Hes not going to get better fielding by DHing. Until the team is ready to compete his on field mistakes don’t matter. You just hope he can improve.
