I miss the days when we could make jokes about bad bleach hair dyes without being called racist, homophobic. Really no matter what we do offends somebody.
Someone needs to build the ark soon. Its time for that flood.
Bautista’s demands were always out of the realm of realism. I remember him being hell bent on making up for the incredibly team friendly contract he signed through his prime. It didn’t seem like the Jays were ever willing to entertain it. People forget the Jays were taking a risk giving him 5/65 after one elite season. But ended up being one of the best contracts in Baseball.
Edwin had a well documented deal on the table. 4 years and 80 million and he ended up getting 3 years and 60 million.
Both the Jays and Edwin lost that off-season. We ended up with Kendrys Morales and Edwin signed for less than the Jays offered him despite wanting to return.
Whose to say they couldn’t have won one without him? Maybe a smarter front office also could have avoided it taking another 20 years to make another playoff appearance.
Very good signing. Especially if he can finish the season with us. Would be awesome having him strikeout Yankees in September
. If he returns to form he’s probably the best reliever we have. Outstanding strikeout numbers which we need more of. Swing and miss is King.
Assuming he’s healthy and his performance doesn’t fall off a cliff. He at the bare minimum is on this club as a power reliever in August. He could also be in the rotation as early as June. He’s not like most young power arms. He doesn’t struggle with command. Atleast he hasn’t so far. Recent memory suggests the Jays won’t hesitate to push him if he continues to dominate and that’s all hes done thus far.
The hype and excitement is real.
Ryu making meaningful starts for the Blue Jays this season seems highly unlikely. But he also has almost no value in the bullpen and is very routine oriented so it would only make sense if he was used in planned long relief situations. That 5th Starter spot is very much up for grabs. But I am hoping our rotation is mostly sorted out by the time Ryu is healthy. Ricky T will be on this club this season will just be interesting in what role that will be.
Reed Johnson should never be confused. Joe Inglett had a pretty decent utility season for us. He would never strike out and had great at-bats. He hit lead off a little bit that season as well. I want to say 2008? Maybe 2009.
