As long as you agree trading Kirk for a fair return might be the best course of action I don’t care about the rest. Kirk had a great season but his body is a legit concern and cashing in on his value now while hes young and under control for a long time is just a much bigger asset than Danny Jansen. Especially if they view Moreno as the long term solution at Catcher. And Danny Jansen remains a solid cheap capable veteran option who might have even more upside with the bat.
If you can get a really good long term Outfield piece for Kirk you make that trade. That trade doesn’t exist for Danny Jansen.
Any improvement to that cement dump is nice. But still disappointed we’re not getting a new Stadium. Especially since they were considering it. That location is way to prime though. It’s unfortunate they couldn’t just tear it down and rebuild on site. Jays could have played in Montreal for a year.
I have no issues with Women playing in Mens Baseball or any spot for that matter as long as she’s good enough to be there and it isn’t a gimmick. What this tells me is she’s such a standout for her own peers she needs to be challenged. So she better be playing atleast semi regularly not just sitting on the bench. Otherwise she should be playing with the girls.
Growing up playing youth Baseball in the Clarington/Durham. We had to travel to some towns in the middle of nowhere. One of them was a town called Blackstock. They had a girl on their team named Mercedes. We all knew her because she was the only girl in the League and she was far and away their best player. So they really gotta stand out or pass.
Nobody’s a fan boy lol. I think everyone is intrigued at the idea of Bellinger figuring it out again and having him do it here while playing great Defense and being an asset on the Bases in the process. He’s to good of a talent to just be a pumpkin now. There’s so much upside in a one year signing.
I love his swing so I wanna see him unload at the Rogers Centre with his shoulder fully healthy.
I think they need atleast one long term Outfield option that’s not George Springer. And theres definitely trade options. Jays are in position to do both long term and short term things in order to bolster the roster.
I’m more in the camp right now that I hope we can do better but would be happy with Bellinger experiment if he proves to the best option in terms of cost and value. The Jays main position player goal this off-season is finding someone you want to play CF for the next 4 or 5 years. That is more likely through a trade. Something definitely has to give with the Diamondbacks OF situation.
I can’t imagine any scenario someone gives a First Baseman that kind of contract. It would be completely unprecedented. I would expect him to get something way more in line with a Matt Olson that goes slightly North of $200m at the most. Unless he goes back to what he was with the bat in 21. He barely even resembled that player in 22.
The problem with Conforto is he can’t play CF. Well atleast he shouldn’t. And we need someone who can play CF. That should be the target. He’s not the worst case scenario with the bat being left-handed with some power and on base. But he’s not a very good Outfielder. And we already have LF only player on the roster with Gurriel.
Vinny Capra or whatever his name is was just non tendered as well so hes also off the 40-man. He wasn’t even arbitration eligible they just didn’t even renew him.
Hopefully the latter. Really not that comfortable overpaying Nimmo. I would also rather they focus on someone who can be projected to play CF for many seasons. Nimmo is someone who has missed a ton of games in his career and is probably better suited in a corner already. If Nimmo can stay healthy hes not a bad fit. High on base lefty bat is something we need but not at a premium price. His career has been so bizarre so far because when he’s played hes been very good. But hes only played 2 full season in his career. 2018 and 2022.
