I’m honestly over it lol. But it’s the principle that people are defending the decision to yank starters early. Yes the off-days are coming up but people wonder why we have relievers throwing 3 out of 4 days and are unavailable on nights we need them on a semi regular basis. Most of the time it’s a direct result of pulling Starters early and using back end relievers in meaningless games that all adds up.
That wasn’t the reason to keep him in the game. That would just be a benefit of staying in the game. He should have stayed in the game because of his low pitch count, his performance on the mound, and the scoreboard.
Period.
They said he didn’t have any restrictions. He doesn’t need to be eased on. Would be a good time to throw 100 pitches today. And QS are not an arbitrary start. 6 innings of 3 runs or less is a very good goal each start. What a stupid take.
It’s really frustrating. And everyone using the off days as an excuse is just pitiful. All it takes is your starter to be knocked out of the game early Tuesday to have a taxed pen again. Let your Starters eat their innings. Ryu was grooving and perfect time to give him an extended outing.
