  1. Paying a 1B who should actually be a DH $450 million would have the potential to be franchise crippling. I doubt the Jays even entertained anything over $400. They were probably comfortable in the 300-325 range and pushed it to 350 to try to get it done. I think the contract if agreed to will look like 10-years 375 with deferred money. People thinking he will get 450-500 million are insane. Unless he starts playing 3B again and can legit stay there.
  2. The biggest difference between Vlad and Soto is body shape. The ability to actually play the OF even if he’s not that good at it. Soto’s skill set ages better. And by far the biggest factor. Soto has been way more consistent, Vlad has had 2 elite Seasons out of his 5. You could argue Soto has been elite since Day 1 outside of a minor blip with the Padres before turning elite again. And his blip was still a really good Baseball player.
  3. Once again if they didn’t want to pay Vladdy what he wants they should have traded him. I’m not mad at a lack of extension if they really felt he wasn’t worth “his number”. I’m mad that they are now likely going to lose him for nothing or a watered down return at the Deadline.
  4. Clock is about to strike midnight Cinderella.
  5. Kirk is very important to extend. But he will be more in the 12-15 M range. On a 3-4 year deal. He would have to put up a monster offensive Season to go as high as 20m which I still think would be excessive. He looks like he’s in better shape thus far. And he’s getting an early start to Spring. I remember him getting off to late starts to Spring in previous years. I could see him having his best offensive Season. He knows he’s very much the guy now.
  6. Dave Berg was easily my least favourite Blue Jay on those early 2000’s teams. He was so memorable for being so bad. Not a name I thought I would hear again lol.
  7. Nope he’s playing Second Base. Triston Casas is their First Baseman
  8. Kinda disappointed Alonso went back to the Mets with his tail between his legs after the way they treated hi m. Kind of makes him look like a massive pussy.
  9. Jack Flaherty finally a Tiger again. Will he bring Bregman with him that is the next question.
  10. Still a drop in the bucket for Rogers. Ed Rogers alone has a net worth of 11.5 billion.
  11. Rogers makes a metric f*** ton of money. I will give them credit for willing to spend a lot on the Blue Jays. Absolute horrendous company to deal with and they massively overcharge their customer base for what they offer. But so do most services in Canada. Statue talks are a bit premature they need to actually do something first. The Ted Rogers statue has always been very cringe.
  12. The Santander deal never made sense without other moves on the horizon. There was always going to be other moves. The needle never moved with Santander alone. With Max and Bregman or Alonso or both it does substantially. And the Jays could easily afford it. It’s whether or not it’s worth it to them.
  13. The solution seems to be the Jays signing both with a Vlad extension.
  14. Probably because his best position is Catcher and should absolutely be catching whenever possible. The point is he could play several different positions.
  15. Very exciting if healthy.
  16. I literally have not thought about Moreno being on the roster in 2 years. The only thing I said in this thread is he’s fat and Moreno is more versatile. Both true, So what’s the real problem? That bored eh?
  17. So I don’t live in the past like you. The trade from 2 years ago is completely irrelevant. Evaluating the current roster Kirk should be signed long term. There’s zero in the pipeline. He’s very good at what he does, I would have preferred Moreno 2 years ago. We don’t live in 2 years ago.
  18. Flip flop from what? Bowling Ball is an excellent Catcher,
  19. I mean hopefully the plan is for him to be resigned long term. Obviously his body is scary but not having a Catcher of his calibre is scarier.
  20. I’m actually really happy with Kirk at Catcher. I was just pointing out he was fat lol.
  21. I mean one is morbidly obese and the other is an athlete that could probably play any position on the field. But yea other than that pretty close.
  22. Rays swooped in out of nowhere and got an absolute steal. Very very good player.
  23. Pretty evident by Cohen basically playing hardball to the media about the negotiations . He's not taking Scott Boras's s*** and knows Pete wants to stay. The market clearly isn't as robust as he thinks it is.
  24. Daily reminder that no credible source is linking Blue Jays and Pete. Only Boras stirring up the rumour mill to push the Mets.
  25. Quite happy with this,
