I feel that to them it matters. Not in the actual money but in terms of what it represents...oh. You want to pay me 180? You must think a lot more of me than the 150 team does. I'll go to where I feel more wanted. 180 makes me feel that.

No one said he's not allowed to or shouldn't do that. Saying that he's the type of player/person that will. High profile. High performer. Extremely confident with large ego. That's not bashing.

I think part of the reason it rarely happens is that player vs. Pitcher divide. I think plenty of voters really don't want to give it to a pitcher, even if they are deserving. They would need to obliterate the competition, when maybe in some instances they shouldn't need to. I just think it would be easier if there was a clear separator. This is for pitchers, this is for hitters, this is for both.

I get that. But players can't win a pitching award, so my main point is that I'd like to see an award for offence only as well.

Retool vs. Rebuild How comfortable are we that the team has enough legit pieces that they can get away with a retool vs. A full out rebuild? If you look at each position, how many are you really comfortable with where you think 'yup...that's been locked down'?

I'm not sure I like the idea of pitchers being MVP eligible. If there was Cy Young and a separate award for best offensive player, then I'd be OK with the MVP including everyone.

They were 50-51 2 years ago and then went on an insane run. Technically they were/are in it. Realistically they're not. You want your players having a positive outlook. It's us fans that are the doom and gloomers.
