Yup. Otani isn't going to sign here. The money just isn't there. There'a big difference between $50K and $3M. Even if they trade for cap room, how much can they really add, and what assets would it take to make that happen. Shatkins is/are saying the right things...but at the end of the day he/they know that there's no shot.

As much as people don't want to believe that it'll be money based...it absolutely is if your team can only offer $50K. It likely isn't a massive factor, but the money has to at least be competitive.

Some people are just complete s*** nuggets, but I think there are others that call out the careless flying and refer to him as stupid because of frustration. Frustrating that it's such a needless death that could've easily been avoided if more care was taken. I don't think that point can be argued. More care and Doc would still be with us. People are mad and are taking it out on Roy because he left us... And it wasn't for a good enough reason. It never should've happened. And it's sad. -

Correct. This is normal business and has been for decades. Love that the Jays are still being aggressive. Vladdy and Barreto were both top ranked guys under AA. Nice to see that Shatkins are willing to continue that trend. They really have no choice. Developing your own core really is the only way to do it.

There's being in on.... And there's "being in on". The Jays were not "in on" Darvish. Chapman AA admits that he screwed up and should've gone in harder. I don't think Otani will sign in TO. If the money isn't a factor I think he'll end up going to one of the bigger US markets that's a contender.
