  1. You think a team goes to every player and asks them permission to disclose an injury? I would've just assumed that sort of language is in every player contract or CBA. There are probably certain types of medical ailments that would be excluded and require a players consent but I'd guess, sprains, breaks, tears, etc are all part of of the things that they're OK to share...but I've honestly never given much thought to the legality of that disclosure.
  2. I don't blame Atkins for Ricky not staying healthy. It's not like they've overworked him or anything like that.
  3. And there will be others that believe Atkins deserves zero blame for anything. It's what keeps these forums interesting.

I guess we'll see. They've shown they can play a strong defensive game... Problem is it comes and goes. No one knows what the next 10 days will look like.

I think he had 20 or 21 heading into last night

Nothing would make me happier than the Leafs eliminating the Bruins and simultaneously eliminating Jack Edwards.

They could sweep Boston... They could get swept by Boston. You know it'll go 7 games though.
  8. Well...if they said they went hard then they went hard. Why would they ever embellish something like that?
  9. I agree. This will be Votto pretty soon.
  10. Technically perfect.
  11. Ohtani didn't sign in Toronto because he didn't want to deal with Vladdy's cooler routine
  12. Maroudis: 4.1IP, 1H, 1ER, 4BB, 4K. Command not the best today, but everything else seems great
  13. So no Varsho to see if he can build on yesterday?

Every team in the playoffs can potentially take it to the finals. We've seen garbage teams do this. Much will depend on who wants it most and what are they willing to do to win.

    Nice
  16. I think you're downplaying it. I think a lot of people here have much higher than "mild" expectations for RT.
  17. ...and that's fair. If that's the case I think we should all be mildly concerned. He's still extremely young, so let's wait and see, but if this pattern continues (as it did for Pearson), his future may be in the pen. Again, it's still real early...but I don't think we can ignore it.
  18. I don't think 100+ pitches every start is the way to go...but I want to see him getting to 90 with some regularity. Maybe that'll happen over the next few weeks but I'm just saying we haven't see any sort of stamina development happening at all. I'll be curious to see how his season plays out.
  19. I can't see any other reason for it. If you're trying to develop a starting pitcher, that starting pitcher needs to be able to throw 100 pitches effectively. Not just from an arm strength and stamina standpoint, but managing the stamina. Knowing when to back off and when to give it a little extra, so he's able to throw 100-110 pitches and not run out of gas at 80 because of too much emptying the tank that happened in the 3rd and 4th innings. There's an art to that, and Tiedemann hasn't had an opportunity to work on that part. It's not like he's in A+...he's already in AAA. Clearly they think he's close.

It's MacKinnon, even if Matthews gets 70.

    Looks like it's gonna happen
  22. So they're babying him.
  23. I understand that. 9 of his first 10 career starts were 5 innings exactly. The last of those 9 being on 10-Jun-2022. He's only had the one 5 inning start since then. The point it is it's both unfortunate and noteworthy that he hasn't been in the position to get to that 5 inning mark in almost 2 years. Yes, he's only 21, but not being able to stay healthy for long enough to build his arm strength back up is something to take note of.
