  1. Same with Hendriks. Both him and Lowe have been good thus far and were fine for the most part today even (Hendriks came up big in that inning with ARod and Lowe got burned by a bunt single and a catchers interference), Gotta credit Beltran and Bird for taking advantage of those mistakes and driving them out of the ballpark as well... they seem to be taking advantage of mistake pitches while our guys (especially JD as of late) seems to be just missing them right now, that's been the difference I feel.
  2. Seeing that is actually further along that I'd have expected, especially with the news that he's apparently now also taking some swings off a tee. I really hope that he's able to make it back, definitely missing his presence out there.
  3. Yeah hitting with RISP has been really awful for the past week or so, especially when bases are loaded. Albeit a lot of them were with two outs but continuing not to take advantage of these chances is ultimately costly, as we have seen vs Boston and now Yanks. It's also difficult for us to win when two of our main three hitters go cold at the plate on the day (JD and EE before that meaningless solo hr at the end). Big credit to Bautista though, while JD and EE to a lesser extent have slowed down Joey Bats is really stepping up his game down the stretch. Credit to our guys for showing a lot of fight today and wasting away Miller, with a big game out of Stro tomorrow we can still win the series which will put us in a very good position ahead of the finish line.
  4. What irony tonight that the two guys that we all have been pushing for as high leverage guys put us behind (Hendriks, Lowe). I still support these two for high leverage situations though, they're still the best choices, both just made fatal mistakes in location today. I really wonder what's going on with Hawkins at this point, I was very surprised to not see him out there today at all at any point in the game... not even warming up as a matter of fact... makes me wonder if he might have re aggravated something during his bullpen warmup last night, or just a case of being extremely careful with him.
  5. Yeah I can't really see anything to blame on Gibby today except for that strange decision to use Hutch in the 9th (which didn't end up costing us). Maybe the only thing I would have done differently is switch out Navarro for Martin at Catcher to strengthen the defence further, but it's hard to do that to a guy who just hit a game tying hr, and really, is pretty much in hindsight.
  6. They're probably treading very, very carefully with Hawkins right now... he not only had that injury recently, but seems like he's also running out of gas from that article I read on him the other day. Let's not forget that Hawkins was actually warming up in the 7th. I think there is a good possibility that the bullpen coaches didn't like what they saw from him there and decided against putting him in/or Hawk decided himself that he's probably better off not going out there.
  7. This is my thoughts on what his reasoning using Sanchez might have been last night as well. More about wanting to save Lowe/Cecil and less about his confidence in Sanchez (although I'm sure there was little bit of that hopefulness of Sanchez having a good outing and getting his confidence back as well). What limits our bullpen the most right now IMO is the lack of that second dependable lefty. It really makes us inflexible in how we use Cecil as he is our only real reliable left hander at the moment. His confidence in Loup is completely shot, and rightfully so... I still predict that Loup will gradually be worked into getting more opportunities vs. Lefties at lower leverage situations to get him ready for the playoffs... unless Loup just happens to be so bad that it's not logical to anybody that he should be out there pitching at all, I guarantee that he's going to be in the playoff roster as that second lefty. It's too much of a risk for any manager to go into a playoff series with only one lefty out of the pen.
  8. On one hand this kind of cheerleading approach might be a part of what wins the players' respect in the clubhouse. Perhaps he's taken to this approach due to his experiences from the last go around (run ins with Lilly, Shea etc). On the other hand, as you mentioned, it can also backfire as it could affect him from making a decisive realistic decision. I think with it being September and playoffs looming he'll need to be more decisive in his actions, even if it may mean the possibility of hurting certain players' confidence/respect in him or whatever. He was finally able to do so with Hutch and he should do the same with Sanchez also.
  9. Pretend that she's the Jays version of that Raptors fan with the Turban.
  10. It seems that as Josh Donaldson goes, so does the Blue Jays... this is probably the most average JD has looked since May. Bautista and EE are trying their best to pick up the slack but we'll def need JD to find that extra gas in the tank. It's a bit worrying due to how he fizzled out at the end of last year, but hopefully this one won't be as bad. I wish he can be given a day off or two to regain some energy but unfortunately we don't have that luxury to ATM. Osuna is still fine velocity wise, it's just that he's been really missing his spots uncharacteristically lately. His general control is not as great as it was a month ago. Incorporating his off speed pitches more would definitely be a good idea. I hope Gibby sees now that Cecil/Lowe are better high leverage guys, especially with runners on base.
  11. http://www.troll.me/images/herbert-the-pervert/i-see-you-got-some-creamy-hamstrings-there-boy-mmmmmmmmmm-thumb.jpg Needless to say, we'll take that, thank you very much!
  12. I'd really be in favour of Barney getting some starts now at 2B. Pennington's a fine utility man but not a consistent everyday player calibre guy IMO, at most maybe a platoon. But Gibbons seems very adamant about playing Pennington as an everyday guy right now, probably with post season in consideration (in which Barney can't play). I get that, but IMO with nothing decided yet that's looking too far ahead.
  13. Defensively I don't think it has hurt us overly much, I think Pennington has been fine for the most part defensively and I think the team as a whole just lost their defensive focus today, not just the middle two. Offensively though I do think we miss Tulo's presence a lot, especially in light of how horrendous Pennington has been batting Right handed/weakening of the bottom of the order with him in every day. JD is slowing down noticeably as of late and Tulo would have been the guy with the most potential to pick up that slack right now.
  14. Holland completely imploded vs. the Mariners today, and Astros already won. Dat AL west race.
  15. I don't think Mets offence will get shut down for a second straight day, but that Harvey situation is so uncertain that I don't think they'll be able to completely quiet down the Yanks bats either. Expecting a pretty close mid-high scoring game tonight.
  16. I'm so glad we have a true dependable ace in Price going for us after discouraging losses like past two days. Imagine if he wasn't around during times like this...
  17. Truthfully Smoak hasn't been all that sharp in the defensive side lately either. As a matter of fact it seems as if the entire team has kind of lost their defensive focus a bit. Even Goins and Pennington are making some uncharacteristic miscues as of late... A team meeting at this point would probably be overboard but I hope the guys can pick each other up somehow and regain their confidence and focus. A good sign is that they've showed up to play the Yankees tough thus far all year for the most part, I just hope this will be the case once again.
  18. The first game of the series is really going to dictate the result of the series IMO. With it being Warren vs Price this is a game we just can't afford to drop. Not sure if we can rock Severino for a second straight start but with Estrada going that one should be tight... Not expecting much out of the finale if it's Tanaka, I have a feeling he's going to continue to play with our hitter's heads' as he has done in his past two starts.
  19. Well, gotta say we deserved to lose today playing sh*t defence like that. Yesterday's loss still bugs me a whole lot more than this one. Price needs to stop the bleeding again tm. Hope our hitters can freaking get their focus back with the biggest series of the year coming up. JD needs to find that extra gear right now, we can't afford him to cool down like this, this is the worst possible time for that. Really missing Tulo's presence in the lineup now as well.
  20. He already pinch hit earlier.
  21. Oh how I so wish we had less than 2 outs right now...
  22. One run can be scratched out at any time. We can do this. Come on Jays!
  23. With Ross Jr. Closing I'm guessing we see Martin for Navarro then Smoak for Barney as PH next inning. Hey, at least Hawk had a good inning, that's prob his best inning as a Jay thus far.
  24. I'm guessing Smoak pinch hits for one of Goins or Barney next inning. Gibby will prob play it to tie or win it on a homer...
  25. Well, let's just hope that we keep it within one then play some small ball in the 9th to tie it. Allow any more runs here and I feel that our chances are gone the way things have been going.
