    Moving forward I 100% agree with you but the reality is after this year we likely lose one or both of Bautista and EE, which is a huge blow. Who knows how long Tulo can stay healthy and not to mention we lose Dickey who while I don't like him, eats a lot of innings. Martin is going to start declining, etc etc etc. Bottom line in fine, build for a sustainable winner, but right NOW we are World Series contenders so why waste that opportunity twiddling your thumbs?

    The more I listen to Shapiro and Atkins, the less confident I am becoming in them. Every time they go to the media it's like listening to a woman explaining nicely why she doesn't want to date you. They have their lame duck manager in place, excuses in their holster ready to fire at a moment's notice ("Well we just felt Gibby wasn't the right fit for how we want this team to be managed moving forward," "well unfortunately our farm system is depleted right now due to the previous regime and we're spending time restocking that," "well we have to think long term"). Hey the philosophy may be great for the next 10 years but we have a small window to actually win a championship and it doesn't seem like they care.

    To play devil's advocate for a minute though...Edwin and Bautista both want to win and both were willing to defer salary to get Santana a few years ago. Possible they could give a hometown discount if the team is in any position to win.

    I feel like we aren't going to resign him. Shapiro seems to have kept his Cleveland Indians mentality of being extremely frugal. And given that after this year our window to compete likely closes...my guess is he lets Edwin walk at the end of the year. Really hope I'm wrong.

    I was annoyed by this deal because I didn't like Happ the last time he was here and was so happy when he left. But then I stopped thinking of this as Price's replacement and started thinking of it as Buerhle's and now I don't hate it as much. Still not a fan though.

    IF the Jays beat KC, and ONLY if they beat KC, I would love for KC to whine about Bautista and then have him be asked about them and Holland's comments, and Bautista to say "I don't really care what a bunch of guys sitting around on their couches watching me play thinks about me."

    lol That was awesome though because it was after they threw at his head twice in one AB and the ump didn't eject the KC pitcher even though warnings had been issued before the Jays could retaliate.
